One of the best dim sum place we've ever visited! The last time we saw this place from the outside, it looks packed with people and long queue in the morning. So I figured if want to come, better come later a bit like 2pm, after peak hours. Managed to get a table but people were still crowded inside but at least not as crowded and there's no long queue.

The way it works there is that you'll be seated, and then the waiter will tell you that there will be waiters coming to us and bring several selections of dim sum to you and you choose which one you want and they will calculate write down on the list. And they really brought the dim sum hot and freshly steamed or fried from the kitchen. So actually it's quite a proper way to order, so that you can order hot and fast.

I don't remember the actual names of the dim sums but I know we took some dim sum that has some chicken, prawns, salted egg, squid, gyoza dumpling style, fried wantan dumpling, etc. Everything that we picked was delicious. Price wise, not too bad. Per plate of dim sum, I think some are RM7 and some are lesser that that, depending on how many you took and what you took. Altogether with drinks, it's about RM90 plus, which for me, it was worth it for 2 people eating.

I'm beginning to see why people love to go there. To me, their dim sum although not the most premium type but majority all of it are tasty and served hot. Think of it like fast food level mcd where you order fast and you get it fast but still taste good. And the waiters were efficient and fast.

They also have nice decorations outside the restaurant where you can take few pics for Instagram purposes. The ladies loved it haha.

Overall, it was an awesome experience and definitely worth coming to. And I hope we get to visit...

As a first time visitor to Canning Dim Sum, I had already done my homework of reading the reviews for the place. So I came a bit guarded about the place, despite being very enticed by the Halal Dim Sum concept.

So on a whim, we decided to come here for a nice lunch, despite other good dining spots in Ipoh. I must say we were most pleased.

Arriving almost 2 pm, the service was speedy - from the welcome, being seated at our table and initial orders taken (after a bit of menu exposition), and the beverages delivered.

The steaming hot dim sum (the choice, yikes, so banyak!), the warm and crisp fried yummies and the fact the waiters/waitress kept coming by to suggest new stuff was most exciting.

I must say their Har Gow, Siu Mai (in all their variations), the crisp wontons, fried turnip cake, egg tarts, pandan lotus sesame balls and more so very well done.

I loved how carefully seasoned each dim sum is, so no harsh punchy flavours, allowing for a clean taste of the ingredients to shine through.

Star dishes for me are: Har Gow (tasted 3 jenis!), Sea Cucumber Caviar Mai, Abalone Caviar Mai, (Hong Kong style) Rice Porridge with chicken and century egg and the Panda Lotus Sesame ball.

If you love Dolly DimSum, you will love Canning Dim Sum even more. Oh, look for Jessica, our host server, she was so ON! Suggesting wonderful morsels to us, and making us feel most welcome. She was lovely!

We spent about RM170, which sounds like sikit for KL standards, but in actuality was quite a satisfying lunch. Significantly better value for money than most other Halal Dim Sum outlets in KL.

Take the time to drive up and makan...

Canning Dim Sum, Ipoh: A Must-Visit for Dim Sum Lovers!

I recently visited Canning Dim Sum for lunch, and it was the perfect stop before heading to our next destination in Ipoh. We arrived safely from Selangor, and since we visited right after the school holidays and on a Monday, there was no queue—definitely a bonus! It’s clear that the locals love this spot, especially around lunchtime.

The service was exceptional! If you're unfamiliar with the experience, it resembles dim sum restaurants abroad. Staff bring various dim sum dishes to your table, allowing you to choose what you'd like. Don't hesitate to ask for their best-selling or top choices if you’re unsure what to pick.

We chose mostly their best-selling dim sum & I can understand why they're so popular!

Now, let’s talk about the dim sum—it was absolutely delicious and incredibly juicy! Each portion includes three pieces of dim sum, and let me tell you, each piece is quite large. The generous size means you can truly savor the flavors, and you can really taste the quality of the meat used in each dish.

One note: parking can be quite challenging, as there are several other restaurants nearby that attract crowds. It’s paid street parking, and you can pay via the Flexi Parking app, which you can download from the App Store or Google Play.

The signboard is big and easy to see from afar, so you won't miss it! You can easily reach the location via Waze or Google Maps.

The QR code on the table is only for ordering drinks and viewing the drink menu.

I can’t wait to return to Canning Dim Sum on my next...
