No more next time ever. A disgrace to the Ipoh f&b scene. Ruined what could’ve been a good dinner to end the year.

Everytime I come here, I always seem to forget how impeccably obnoxious and over the top the service is - how you can wait for over an hour to be served your appetisers and soup, and wait another half hour for the mains and then wait some more to pay at the counter.

The 10% service charge is to hear them apologise over and over throughout your meal, and to never have your water refilled when you’re parched beyond waiting. I came in with no expectations only to have my meal ruined by a place where I had to demand for my food and I was even as desperate to willingly cancel my mains and walk out the door only to be told to wait a little while more to be served.

The only saving grace was my steak actually came medium rare and the lamb shank still tasted the same as we had it 2 years back before the MCO (mind you, I was reminded again that service was also at snail pace back then). I feel sorry for the kitchen staff to be working with such terrible service team.

What was even more disappointing was how we were being served a lot later than tables that came way after we arrived and made our order - which goes to show how messy their service line is.

We had a decent meal with good service at citrus. The pricing is definitely above average and that resembles in a nice environment for half the restaurant and the other half with wooden chairs and mamak style tables. A very weird mix.

However the food presentation is good and the quality somewhere between very good and average. The bruschetta came with the tomato mix on the side, I have never gotten it anywhere else than on the bread before. My lamb 3 way was 2 way ok and 1 way tasty. The desert was quite nice and I really liked the combination of chocolate and fruits.

However the Mojito came with no noticeable alcohol and I had to ask them to check if they forgot to put any in, they took back the drink and brought it out later with alcohol inside the same glass. For a place that aims to be upper class and charges accordingly I would expect to redo it properly.

Have always had a positive experience at Citrus but today was a disappointment. Head Chef and Erica were out of town today and perhaps that translated to a drop in some food quality and service. Firstly, the spaghetti bolognese tasted 'off'. The grouper was overcooked and arrived bland and 'tough'. Most shockingly was seeing the waitress arranging the empty table next to ours, dropping a fork on the floor and putting it back on the table again! When we gently suggested, a few minutes later, that she should not have placed the fork back on the table, she said she will remove it later. Of course, that made us wonder how many of the utensils that were set up on all the tables prior to opening hours had been on the floor!
