Restoran Sri Kumuthavalli — Restaurant in Perak

The first impression as we stepped in was, the shop is quite clean and orderly. Food was piping hot and there was a clear seperation of both Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian Food. It was a welcomed sight, as it is also the Thaipusam Season.

My wife decided on getting their Nei Sorru, with Vegetarian Mutton Peratal, Saambar, Fried Chicken and Spinach. I opted to take their BLR Set and added on a serving of Chicken Varuval and Mutton Varuval. We both also ordered Limau Ais to wash it all down.

The BLR set, itself came with Cucumber, Fried Snake Gourd and Water Gourd Sohti. I opted to take their Par Boiled Rice. The curries were offered were Fish Curry, Chicken Curry and Saambar.

The Chicken Varuval hit the spot! It was not dry. Moist, Spiced and seasoned to perfection. Not oily. We liked the fact that the chicken was skinless, which I feel could drybout easily, but that wasn't the case. The pieces were big and portion was generous. It was more than enough for both of us.

The Mutton Varuval was cooked with bone in. The pieces just like the chicken was big and generous. The mutton was tender, with its "Thalipu", could be seen and tasted. There were very few fatty pieces. There was no gamey smell nor taste associated with mutton.

Traditional banana leave meal is the hallmark of this local Indian restaurant. Served with banana leave, vege condiments and white rice as generous as you could handle, a variety of curry gravy from fish to meat for your choosing over the white rice. Then you can order curry chicken or mutton curry to top up. Mutton is the all time favorite and if you are late, it's all taken up. The rest are pretty good too. I don’t know how you all telling the restaurant’s food is nice. We are all the way from KL went to took our tea time at Kumuthavalli seriously the restaurant service is very poor, shop is not clean, foods all didn’t cover up at all they just leave it on the food tray without cover with anything.
