A hidden gem... easily missed, though it’s exactly at the intersection of the busiest part of Ipoh Garden South‘s commercial area. A warm and quaint eatery. Decorated with posters and pictures from around the world. You will have a difficult time selecting from a delicious array of original recipes; only found here, at Take A Break (TAB). Must try their Ona Laksa! My children love their Chicken Stew, Roast Chicken and all their pasta dishes. My husband’s choice would definitely be from their noodle selection: green curry noodles (nothing like the Thais), yellow curry noodles, both of TAB’s lai fun dishes and he will always order their chicken salad! What’s my choice then? Definitely the Ona laksa! I will order my coffee (black, no sugar) and later end my meal with a nice piece of fruit cake. Yummy!! Do give TAB a try. Don’t trust me, experience it yourself!

Oh! And here’s a tip... drop by on Friday nights after 8pm for a wonderful surprise (Remember, ONLY...

This cafe is located upstairs. I think Ipoh has learnt to accept that eating places that aren't at ground floors serve food that is as good, if not better, than those more easily seen. I must have visited it before it moved here. The ambience here struck me as loud. You either love it or hate it, but I think most patrons do return. The owners are two charming ladies. They love their teas, as witnessed by the tea paraphernalia tastefully displayed by one wall.

I didn't try the white laksa, possibly their signature dish. Instead I was curious to see how they combined laifun noodle with salad and olive oil, an innovation which I was not disappointed by. There was the usual Teh Tarik and white coffee. I liked the cempedak cake. It was so fragrant.

I'm not sure if food lovers have discovered this cafe, but it should be a stop on any...

Never realized there are a restaurant upstairs, went there on Christmas. They have these few set dinner for Christmas and we chosen the pork ribs. They have the pumpkin soup with homemade bread for starter which was really nice. The grapefruit juice was amazing and refreshing. The pork ribs was a bit too hard to chew and we got the fruit cakes for dessert at the end, the cake has many fruit and nuts inside, the texture wasn’t nice but overall is good with...

Food 5/5 Must try the variety of laksa. They are well prepared, flavourful and tasty. Ambience 3.8/5 Place is decorated like a home giving a cosy feeling. Clean and comfortable and not noisy. Service 4/5 The lady boss did the serving, cooking and cleanup. Very efficient, friendly and welcoming. Value for money 3.5/5 Laksa was reasonably priced. Other items including drinks seem a little overpriced.
