Ambience: 5/5
Amazing location, parking is free and can be found in front of the house. Great ambience, easy to speak, clean and cozy.
Menu: 2/5
Food selections is quite limited, needs proper descriptions and illustrations. "Special menu" was literally written behind a piece of used paper.
*Wagyu beef is considered as a luxury beef, it definitely needs attention on presentation on the menu. Staff needs knowledge on how to present & describe this luxury to customers.
Wide selections of wine, beers are very limited. *Staff lacks experience of serving liquor.
Experience: 1/5
We called and booked a table prior before arriving for a birthday dinner. Specifically asked for a surprise birthday dessert at the end of our meals.
One of the young lad just came in, unknowingly just announced that there will be a special dessert serving; thus the surprise was already a fail.
It was still considerable acceptable for a simple mistake. But then one of the young staff, only asked how it should be served to us, the young lad obviously has no idea how to serve the dessert. (Why not ask me to serve myself?!)
Overall:
Potential amazing bistro for Ipoh, but it definitely needs more trained staff to handle customers proficiently and efficiently with proper knowledge to know, how and what is served on the menu.
Good chef, but lacks of experienced staff. Good effort, keep it up! :)
**could tether more seats outside, a smoking area for drinkers.
*parking sign could be bigger and lite, missed a couple of turns...
Read moreMy wife and I visited this restaurant after extensively searching(about 3 hours and 5 restaurants) in Ipoh for a location for a celebratory dinner. We were delighted with our decision, although finding it was a challenge. The restaurant is located on a corner allotment which has a large parking area attached. Access is either via the car park across cobblestones and gravel which was challenge for my wife in high heals or through a small nondescript gate from the street, which proved an easier option. During day light hours especially, the restaurant is not obvious. I eventually found it with the assistance of my trusty WAZE and a Security Guard who happened to be nearby. The restaurant is relatively small allowing an intimate environment for couples as well as tables for four or six. The accoustics were very good allowing easy conversation. Staff were attentive but not intrusive and were conscious to ensure as much privacy as possible. The menu is quite diverse and of excellent quality, focussing on Snacks including Sautéed mushrooms, fried Calamari and Soup for Starters, Pizzas, Lamb, Wagu beef and Pastas for Mains. Bombe Alaska for desert was a treat! Service was exceptional! Special mention is made of Thomas, Sze Kei and Yi Ming who were accommodating, pleasant, helpful and attentive. The wine list is quite extensive but byo is accepted at a reasonable corkage fee. This restaurant is relatively new but highly recommended for those looking for great food, excellent service and an ambience that is difficult to...
Read moreI am not quite sure whether this restaurant qualifies as fine dining or not though the price itself certainly seemed to warrant that “standard”. We ordered the grilled squid, which we agreed was the best of the dishes that we ordered. Flavourful and good chewy texture. The salmon pizza was a letdown for me - it felt a little too basic for the price. The Iberico pork chop was, in my view, quite inedible (but again, that’s only for me mostly because I am unable to stand the pork being too fatty and this one really was very fatty.) The meat felt like it was fat melting off on my tongue, which was too unbearable for me but I must say some people live for this texture and sensation. So if you like your pork to have a layer of juicy fatty meat then this dish is for you. The sides that complemented the pork chop were quite basic again unfortunately. For example, the pork chop had a side of fries and the fries weren’t exactly special so we were quite surprised/ disappointed. The apple sauce was also a bit too sweet. I had wanted to go for the Bomb Alaska but I changed my mind after the pork. I would balk at coming here again - I would expect a lot of quality in the food...
