I found this place by chance using Maps because I happened to stay in AC Marriott which was nearby and within walking distance.
Map reviews were really good so I decided to walk over and enjoy my favourite selections of Ipoh or Cantonese dessert or "tong shui".
Unfortunately, the red bean dessert was sold out which I totally understand why. So, I settled for the next best on my menu which was also one of my favourites. Gingko barley.
It was really nice with plenty of gingko nuts. I think it's thickened with soy bean "skins" or yuba? Anyway, it was delicious and matched well with my plate of Ipoh "pig intestine noodles" or "chui cheong fun" that came typically with sweet red sauce, chili paste, sesame oil, picked green chili and curry on the side.
The environment was clean and air-conditioned. It was spacious as well and there were not many people when I visited.
I would consider it a hidden gem. I will definitely come back to try other items on the menu on my next trip...
Read moreDo not come here when you’re in a rush or very hungry and especially during peak hours. First time and the experience here is dissatisfying already.
Service is not really good, kitchen did not have any sort of communication to relay there will be delay in ordering rice, which is what I waited almost a whole hour for. I had to ask the staff to check what was happening since my parent already finished her whole bowl of noodles right in front of me. I feel like customer should be informed as soon there would be any delays not to have their patience tested.
Food itself it’s definitely above average, very good. Is it worth the wait? If I am less in a rush and not so hungry. Maybe.
Environment with how the tables are placed and cleanliness..it’s alright, won’t say it’s sparkly clean nor it’s neat enough. Seats are decently placed but don’t expect to have too many tables fitting 5-8...
Read moreIf you are in Ipoh, recommend to visit this aircon, clean & rather quiet cafe. Various choice of foods available. We tested their curry mee with the tender cha-siew, nasi lemak with prawn sambal, curry chicken, dark vinegar pork, all are nice, 5 stars especially for the curry soup of the curry mee.
Updated 17.6.25: Shifted to this Aeon Big Farlim Ipoh (free parking) from town area recently (Jun 25). The food is still good - the "pickled salted vegetables and minced pork meat rice" is tasty & not too salty to eat - would be better if the shop can add few simple vegetables for choice in the menu to balance the diet. Also found the hot milk tea is tick & nice to drink despite asked for less sweet. Recommended to visit for a meal especially you wanted to escape from outdoor hot...
