Needed a quick meal while in Ara Permata area - spotted Ee Hiong and quickly went in. The premise was clean and bright, lacked of conditioning but they provided enough ventilation to keep cool.
Price for the YTF is RM2.50 per piece which is a decent price for the size given plus the fillings (mixture of pork & fish paste). Their sweet sauce was not too sweet while the chilly sauce was served separately.
Note: Not sure if I would go back again though. I asked for a small bowl of curry soup politely through a foreign worker. I got one but not without a less-than-friendly look on the Indian girl (who looked like supervisor) who said "we don't give curry for customer who order YTF only without chee cheong fun". I am on low carb that was why I didn't order the CCF. She just put it down, turned and walked away. A bit upset with this kind of attitude honestly. There must be a better way to communicate...
Read moreThe food was good, but they seemed to be short-staffed, and our order took a very long time. We told the uncle (I assume he’s the boss) the first time that our order wasn’t complete yet, and he just said “ok ok, the kitchen is still cooking,” but it didn’t seem like he actually went to check.
When we told him the second time, he asked us to go pay at the counter and told the staff to deduct the missing items from the bill. I was like — we’re still waiting to eat, not asking for a refund! Yet he just continued serving new customers without checking on those already dining. He didn’t even apologize, just told us we could leave and deduct the amount since the kitchen “also blur already.”
I think the service really needs improvement. At least let customers know with a simple “sorry, we’re a bit busy and things are a bit messy right now.” That small gesture would make a...
Read moreSaw this new restaurant recently and decided to try it out. It’s basically a version of hotpot which the soup is rather concentrated and you can add more soup / wine into it as it’s being heated from the stove.
Portion is, it’s enough for 2-3 person for a pot. I’m sure they have a bigger portion if you’re dining in a group. Then you can order your side dishes such as meats, tofus and vegetables. The portion of vegetables given to us was rather generous. They also have condiments such as chilies, garlics and etc for you to use.
The ice blended mango is pretty good. It’s thick and not filled with ice unlike some places. Overall you could give it a try if you’re into hotpots. It’s a different concept but this place is rather interesting for...
