I went to the ss19 branch restaurant for the first time due to bf's high recommendations. We ordered the superior soup lala (上汤啦啦) and found it filled with sand and small broken pieces of the shell. We told the waitress and she was very nice about it. She said they will clean it again and gave me a second bowl. (If you know lala, you have to wait for them to 'vomit sand' before they are even cooked. So the chances of that whole pot of lala was clean was very low, but I gave the restaurant a second chance anyway).
The second bowl came and it was 'cleaner' , but still with sand and broken pieces of shell. I told the waitress about it and I told her I do not want it anymore. I had to rinse my mouth with my Teh C to not feel the crunchy sand between my teeth.
Meanwhile, the chef in the kitchen kept giving me death stare via the kitchen window, especially the red T shirt chef, it was so intimidating! The treatment from the chef was unreasonable as we raised our concern politely with the waitress, (The waitress for some reason did yell at the chef multiple times) so the death stares were uncalled for. We paid and quickly left (they didn't charge me the lala soup) . What a bad 1st impression to have! Attached are the photos from the second bowl of lala which is suppose to be 'cleaner' (you can imagine the 1st bowl lala's worse condition) and the death stare the red T shirt chef gave...
Read moreIt was a long day. From the first moment I opened my eyes at 6am until I finished everything, including a few hours of driving not forget to mention getting stuck in the rush hour jam... all I wanted was a simple dinner.
Passing by this stretch of shophouses along Jalan Harapan, I made a turn in and saw this rather empty restaurant. "Great! Food will be served fast and if it's good, it's good. If not, first and last time" I thought to myself.
◾Mee Sua Ginger Wine with Egg & Kampung chicken RM19.50 - if you like your soup to be powerful from the heat of the ginger, this is for you. Even under the fan, I was sweating profusely after drinking the soup. Kampung chicken on its own was already smooth topped with ginger paste. ◾Lou Xu Fun Chicken Soup with Egg RM15.90 - not sure if can be called Lou xu fun because it had the thickness but in full noodle form 😅 the soup on the other hand, had the sweetness from the chicken and suited to those who prefer something 'ching ching'. ◾Pork Noodle Soup RM12.90 had good flavour and sweetness from the pork was evident. Our extra egg was cooked perfectly with still runny yolk.
Then I realized that they have another outlet in DJ which I always passed by.
Note: I felt slightly thirsty afterwards so they must have used MSG...
Read moreHave been coming here for years. Specialising in soup noodles. They have modernized over the years. Clean, simple & airy. Friendly owners & staff. Reasonable pricing. Parking limited during peak times. Open from breakfast till dinner.
Make sure to try their specialty tomato soup & chicken ginger wine noodles. Rich & comforting broth. Tomato is my favorite. Not too sour, quite balanced. Packed with ingredients. Get it with their spinach noodles which has a nice bite & light flavor. Apart from noodles their sides are also worth a try. From lobak to Bentong stuffed taufoo to steamed kampung chicken. All yummy in their own way. Drink wise plenty of options from kopi to herbal tea to juices. All well made.
Always happy when dining here. Definitely...
