A Hidden Gem in PJ That Became My Go-To Spot
I stumbled upon this place after moving into the PJ area for work. At first, I thought it was one of those fancy, overpriced restaurants but my curious foodie side said, "Why not treat yourself once in a while?" And honestly, Iāve never looked back.
Being mostly vegetarian, I started off with their thali set a total comfort meal, beautifully served and packed with flavor. Itās now my absolute favorite. They also run promos sometimes, so donāt miss out if you see one. And the best part? I always end my meal with their pasam paal bru strong, aromatic South Indian filter coffee. Itās a must.
But hey, I wonāt lie during my non-veg days, I went full beast mode on their super briyani. Rich, aromatic, and satisfying to the last spoon. Even my Chinese boss got hooked on their cheese naan with fish curry and tandoori naan. We both agreed it hits the spot every single time. Seriously, the flavors here donāt play around.
I've celebrated special days here Motherās Day, Fatherās Day and this place always delivered more than just good food. The soft Indian music in the background, comfy seating, and relaxing vibe make it ideal not just for eating, but also for long chats and catch-ups.
Special shoutout to Andrew, the manager (I hope I got his name right). One of the most hardworking, kind, and helpful people Iāve seen in this line. He deserves all the credit I really hope the management values him.
One small suggestion to the operations team maybe consider shifting some of the post-3pm food varieties to lunch hours, say around 12pm? Might give customers more options earlier in the day, especially for regulars like me.
This place isnāt just a restaurant itās an experience. Easily my favourite spot in PJ, and trust me, I donāt say that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery disappointed with my 3rd visit. Compared to when they were still new, food quality and experience has definitely gone down. Generally their food is good but for the price we may, the owner should ensure that the food quality is up to par. Butter Chicken is normally made with boneless chicken. For the price we paid, we had 5 small pieces of chicken with bones, and 3 of them were pure bones with hardly any meat. Worse was that the chicken was not soft or even seemed fresh. The chicken was hard and dry. Like it was yesterday's fried chicken. I was really disappointed to see my son looking sad coz he wanted to come here and have their butter chicken and he was so excited. The gravy was nice but what's the point if you're cooking it with tough chicken pieces. Such a turn off. I was told that they're not sure how other places serve butter chicken but here they don't cook it with boneless. And that they cook the chicken in the tandoori first. Still, the chicken should at least be soft. I cook at home and I know when the chicken is not fresh. The manager was nice enough to offer us a new plate of butter chicken with bigger pieces that had meat. It was nice of you but still, you need improve on how your serve this dish to other customers. They have a nice setup with a cosy feeling, beautiful deco. But how can we enjoy our meal if you have a staff playing loud Punjabi videos standing a metre from our table for a good 5mins? It was so loud. I was honestly annoyed at this point and told myself I'm never bringing my family here again. I don't know if the management changed but you guys really need to improve overall. The thosai, Naan, and even the canna dhall was very good. For that, I'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEvery now and then I come across a restaurant with the potential to be excellent but the opportunity is squandered by staff who aren't trained very well either with menu knowledge or being able to advise customers about certain dishes. Such is the case with Bayleaf. My visit for dinner was disappointing, the first reason is that the naan was simply not as good as most other places I've been to. It was thick with a strong taste of yeast and was a little undercooked. The mixed grill was incredibly disappointing. The waiter promised a variety of meats, fish, prawns, lamb etc. It was not hot when it arrived, was basically 3-4 types of chicken, a little fish which was so soggy and the lamb or mutton was hard. I wonder if the food was made earlier and taken from a food warmer. The hydrabad chicken was far too spicy. I asked the waiter who was non chalant offering the standard, it's normal hot hot. My friends were unable to eat it. All isn't negative. The Brinjal masala was quite nice. I noticed a few tables ordering biryani, it looked lovely so perhaps if we make it there again, we will give that a try. However I think it will take some persuading to get my friends to visit again. We finished just one dish, the rest were disappointing. The waiters are lovely and polite but training is lacking which is very obvious when I visit for breakfast and the place is...
