We recently visited this cafe, which is located upstairs. At the lower floor entrance, the signboard displayed the playground and food menu, with most main courses priced around RM20+. This gave us the impression that it was a family-friendly place with reasonable prices.
However, upon reaching upstairs, we were informed by a staff member that there’s a RM30 per child fee to enter the mini play area. This felt quite sudden and unreasonable, especially since this important condition wasn’t mentioned downstairs. It would be much better if these terms were made clear at the entrance to avoid such surprises and to disappoint the kids
We had two adults and three toddlers with us, and paying RM90 just for the kids to access the playground was quite steep and also due to we can't take 3 main course because the kid just want to play but they don't want to eat. Eventually, the staff offered a minimum RM60 for three kids, which was more acceptable, and we appreciated the flexibility.
As for the food: • The teriyaki rice was below average in taste. • The carbonara spaghetti was okay. • With two drinks, our total came to RM70+.
A few things that surprised us: • No bank card payments accepted — only QR or cash. • There was only one staff on the floor, possibly another in the kitchen. The staff was busy mopping the floor, cleaning windows and toilets, which meant we had to help ourselves most of the time despite a 5% service charge being applied. • Tables near the play area were mostly light IKEA-style garden furniture — not very stable and easy to topple.
We did see a board explaining that the minimum charge helps maintain the kids’ area, which we understand. However, we’d like to suggest a better approach — for example, requiring at least one main course per adult rather than a flat playground entry fee. This might make more sense for families and could encourage more return visits.
The current model might be difficult to sustain, especially considering the location and low foot traffic. We were the only customers...

The food is really disappoint me, why? I ordered Salted Egg Prawn pasta and it came with 3 pieces of small sizes broccoli and 3 pieces of extra small of prawn with the price of RM24.90 with no other types of veggies or other garnishing. Just a plain pasta with less flavor.
My friends also ordered a few different types of dish/meals such as Japanese Curry and Rice, Broccoli rice chicken, and Buttermilk Pasta but the taste is really below of our expectation. and the waiting time is loooooong but probably because they don't have staffs to help them.
Luckily the beverage and the Sandwich Croissant taste good. Oh one more, I ordered one classic croissant and waffle eggette, it supposed to arrived before the meal, but same with the other meals, we have to wait longer than they promised. And until we had finished our meals the classic croissant still not arrive at our table and we have to tapau, but here's come the confusion, classic waffle comes with butter and maple syrup but they just pack plainly with the price of RM9.90 each. For malay, the toilet here doesn't have bidet.
However, despite the negative food outcomes, the service is lovely here. The staff were very helpful when it comes to the menu. and outside the café there is a pre loved clothes and accessories for women to check out while waiting for the orders to come.
extra info: the parking here is limited so you have to go basement parking and the café is...
Read moreBlackwood Cafe is a place I love coming to and just relaxing and studying while enjoying the calm, soothing ambience and great food even though it's rather far from my home. The cafe is in Eve Suite connected to Lembah Subang LRT station so it is a very accessible location. I love the great variety and taste of food available here, from Western options such as pasta to Malaysian spicy food like rendang rice bowls to East Asian food such as kimchi soup, udon noodles, teriyaki chicken rice bowls and what's the best are the waffles, their waffles are a great way to reward yourself after you finish your studies/tasks for the day. Their coffee and beverages are also excellent, my favourites are their signature Blackwood Mojito Coffee and Rose Latte. The staff are very friendly and environment is very calming. People even bring pets to the outdoor part of the cafe. It's a...
