Broom in Paramount Gardens was the first outlet (opened in 2020, the second in Jalan Siew Chew Kee, right across Jalan Galloway from LalaPort in Bukit Bintang). It sits in a row of single story shophouses in one corner of Jalan 20/13, more known in the past for second hand dealers, car repair/mechanics and tyre shops, though Loong Foong Seafood at the end (of the block) has been a long purveyor of their popular roast duck and seafood for a generation already. I arrived shortly past 11:30 but was disappointed that even at that hour, had to wait for about 15 minutes before a table was available. The staff kindly offered me a cold glass of water while I waited outside in the heat. Once I was ushered inside, the cool of the restaurant hits you in the face, not only literally, but also because it is such a relaxed and tranquil setting; on the right was a large glass cabinet filled with their artisanal cakes, pastries and sourdough bread offerings. It indeed is an impressive enticement. Further back against the wall were small handy-craft (for sale?). On the left were seating places, cleverly constructed and arranged in such a way, that one could feel private, even with closely spaced tables. This was helped by the many (some small and some large palms) dotting the place (some strategically). Going towards the back, almost the whole section is littered with small stones, as in a garden. One goes straight to the cashier, order and pay. Service is very good. The staff are all very courteous, cheerful and helpful. It would be difficult to review the whole offerings at one writeup, so this is restricted to the first order (and perhaps be updated later). I ordered “Proudly Malaysian” since it was touted and recommended by quite a few diners. For the drink, I had the Lychee Kombucha. The Proudly Malaysian is actually Nasi Kerabu, supplemented with Penang style acar and otak-otak, ayam rendang, ulam rice from up North, prawn crackers from East Malaysia and completed with chopped cabbage and half of a hard-boiled duck egg. It was also served with green and red sambal, the green one slightly minty. By itself, the rendang was good. The flesh came off easily, testament to the long hours of cooking with chili and herbs and had a slight buttery sweetness and full of umami goodness. Mixing the ingredients gives one a different burst of sensation, depending on what has been added. For added punch, the chili added another dimension to the experience. All in all, a wonderfully crafted dish, albeit a little too much to eat. The Kombucha, crafted in-house was as expected. No disappointment here. All in all, a wonderful place to have a meal or just to while time away with some pastries and a nice drink!

Where do I start with this cosy neatly tucked away little cafe in Sea Park Petaling Jaya? This quaint little artisan bakery can often go unnoticed when you drive by except for the amount of cars parked in front and nearby it as well as the number of people queuing to get in especially on weekends. Once inside, this bakery is bright and spacious with cement and minimalistic inspired decor takes you in, inviting you to experience its food and beverages. They showcase a variety of breads, pastry and fusion local style dishes as well. I had a couple of croissants, Salmon Smørrebrød, potato truffle danish, proudly Malaysian rice and the customary coffee latte to wash it all down with. I first dug into the Salmon Smørrebrød. It has smoked salmon on to of the Smørrebrød top with alfalfa sprouts I think. It looked spectacular but unfortunately the taste fell short. It could do with a bit more flavour though the sour cream tried to do its best to save it, the taste felt short to my liking. Second I went for the potato truffle danish. Pieces of sliced potato inside a puff pastry danish topped with slices truffles and a hint of cheese I believe. I found the pasty to be oddly dry and hard, which to my experience should be light, fluffy and soft. The potato and truffle was a delight but the puffed pasty? Next were the croissants. It was the same! Oh-oh whats going on? Even the croissants were dry, crumbly and tough to cut with knife? The fillings were alright but the texture of the pastry was off. I guess them reheating the pastries before serving could be the problem. It probably got over baked but then the pasties weren’t even hot or at least warm when I tasted it. Weird. I so wanted the croissants to be crispy crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside but it tended to be hard and flaky. Next was the Proudly Malaysian rice that comes with chicken rendang with a host of ulam on the side. I believe this would be the healthier option of..of I’m not sure what sort of rice dish I can align it too. Nasi dagang? No. Nasi kerabu? Nope. Nasi hujan panas with chicken rendang? Perhaps but there’s just too much ulam. To my taste, it was bland and lacked seasoning and flavour. Really sad to see a dish which if you had it at another place, it is bursting with spices and coconut cream on the chicken rendang but what I had here fell halfway short. The coffee latte though was a plus point and the service was warm, friendly and impressive. Kudos to that. For the pastries perhaps they need not warm it up as it made it very dry and tough. Unless they bump up on the flavours of a few items I may not consider coming back.

It's all about aesthetic. The pastries are all oversweetened and honestly it's overrated and overpriced with what was served. We were allowed only 90 mins to dine, first in my life for non-buffet experiece. Undeniably the place is well decorated with Christmas theme but the quality of food was not up to par at all with the prices they charge. The croissant was full of sugar and you can't really taste butter, it just tasted cheap. Second is the chocolate walnut cookie, a jumbo sized HARD cookie with tons of sugar and the chocolate tasted only sugar.. ordered too the blueberries pie, generous amount of blueberries with oversweetened and gluey custard, the crust, it's not even a crust for its soggy and flour-liked texture. We didn't finish any of those and left with disappointment. I'm sorry it goes to waste 😞 Hahah yeah you got me at the "pie thing"! I do remember your staff too, who were firendly and nice to seat us and helped us to photo of your nice place, I'm never rude to nice people please don't accuse me just because I give bad reviews and mistaken a pie for a tart 😭 It was just the start of my day how can it be already bad if it's not for your food 😞 apparently you don't take criticism well and why ask me to go back for second visit if you think I'm rude? I'm confused but anyways hearing your reply reassures my opinion about the entire situation and I hope you keep it up and don't take it personal as I don't attack your staff or the like but you criticize on my behaviour and typos and I think is quite uncivilised of you. Good luck

Bröom Artisan Bakery is a local microbakery, kitchen & social space that deserves more credit and recognition. 🧹😍 The variety of recipes, the attractiveness of the setting and irresistible allure of freshly baked goods is guaranteed to keep a whole array of diners happy 🥐🤗

Proudly Malaysian Rice Bowl - Fragrant rice, chicken rendang, local ulam, acar, Muar otak-otak, fish crackers. The name itself says it all!! A rice bowl that every individual should try for a taste of Malaysia!! This authentic Malaysian rice bowl combines locally sourced herbs and spices with varied cooking styles inspired by the cultures that define it, creating a unique explosion of flavour that’s robust and palatable. The otak otak was definitely the highlight 🤤 The spicy fish cake was brightly flavored with various aromatic herbs, exotic spices, and infused with the sweet fragrance of rich coconut milk wrapped in a banana leaf! 🐟 I liked how it was thick enough to get a good mouthfeel of it unlike the ones served in stalls which are too soft and jelly like. Chicken thigh was enormous and their portion was very generous, surprisingly able to satisfy my ravenous self 😱👍🏻 Banana Crumb Muffin - Fluffy banana muffin, with a crunchy crumb topping 🧁🍌 Simple yet oh-so-good!! This is hands down the worlds best banana muffin ever 😍😍😍 I guarantee you that even a banana hater will fall in love with it at the first bite!!! It was so moist, buttery and fragrant; the banana brûlée coating was sweet and gave it the perfect finishing!! It tasted so pure and rich in banana (no essence/fake flavouring taste). If you love banana cake, this is a must try!! 😩❤️

Overall, they have a myriad of freshly baked pastries & bread, open sandwiches, salad and local fusion bowls that will tickle your...
