Their menu incorporates both healthy and decadent food to cater to all kinds of crowd. Meals with calorie count by the side are the ones which were recommended by certified fitness instructors. 💪🏻 They’re also pet friendly so drop by this quaint cafe with your furry one 🐶🐾
We ordered mainly the non healthy meals because who am I kidding right 🤪🤣 Every dish was so good and I found everything to be fairly priced 👍🏻 The cheesy wedges were perfection - they weren’t deep fried or greasy like the ones from KFC - instead they were grilled and topped with loads of mozzarella cheese and bacon 😍😍 Really enjoyed this and I recommend you getting this for starters.
The awesome light combo was the perfect brunch you could ever dream of. It’s reminds me of hotel breakfast where you get a bit of everything. The buttered toast bun was soft and flavourful, the chicken sausage was chunky and succulent, the fluffy scrambled eggs were moist but not too runny, and even the salad tasted good especially when paired with mayo 🤤 It can actually be considered a big breakfast because it has every element in it ⭐️
The Japanese Curry Rice is also praiseworthy, in fact it’s better than typical Japanese restaurants 😏😏 The curry was super thick and the chicken katsu was half soaked in curry while the other half laid gracefully on a bed of steamed sticky rice. It’s nice to have a half-half combo of the katsu chicken, as one part is soggy from being soaked in the curry while the other half gives you a nice crunch from the crispy skin. Big portion and the chicken was...

Disclaimer: This is solely based on my experience during my visit to Awesome Canteen. I have no bias or special preference toward the shop. This is purely my personal experience.
Facts: Ordered at 7:01 pm First dish arrived at 7:30 pm Second dish arrived at 7:39 pm Third and last dish arrived at 7:41 pm Received a free cake at the end
The Good: The menu is unique. I have not seen other shops in the area offering such fusion dishes. I was excited to try them. The service was good. Both the servers and the cashier were polite.
The Bad: The wait was extremely long. My dish was the last to arrive, and I waited forty minutes even though the restaurant was not fully occupied. There were several empty tables. Honestly, I was quite frustrated since my family and I were very hungry.
Neutral: Regarding the taste, I was not a fan. It is hard to describe, but it just was not to our liking. The sea bass was good, but the soba noodles did not sit well with me. The mee pok we ordered was very oily. It was not bad but slightly lacked flavor and tasted somewhat bland. I did not try the third dish myself, but my father described it as very mediocre.
Conclusion: To the owner: There is nothing wrong with the food itself. People are still visiting, so I understand that it might be a personal preference issue. However, please address the kitchen flow. I noticed that I am not the only one experiencing this issue. Many people in the reviews have mentioned the long waiting time. I am genuinely curious why this has not been resolved. Perhaps reviewing the kitchen operations could help. If other restaurants can manage shorter serving times, it should be possible here as well.
Again, I have nothing against the owner or the shop. It was just a disappointing experience. Thank you for the complimentary cake. It was appreciated. I was initially going to give one star but decided on three stars, hoping to come again and see improvements...
Read moreThis time I came with two companions. The place looks a bit different - a little bit barer than I remember, maybe a little less 'awesome-looking' than I recall but the menu was familiar. I just remember it rocking a warmer, vintagey vibe.
We ordered the Chicken Katsu Burger, Fish Fillet Burger and Turkey Ham Carbonara.
Companion 1 loved his carbonara. Said it was thick and creamy. Companion 2 liked the Chicken Burger but maybe not with the curry sauce. My fish burger was alright but would have been better with a different fish over the dory. However, for only rm22, I can't really complain. The home made tartare sauce is a thumbs up and lifted the dish magnificently.
Fries were pretty good. Crispy yet fluffy inside. Not too thin. Kind of different from the fries at other cafes.
Staff were efficient enough - just very bored-looking. Place seemed overstaffed for a weekday night.
Haven't been here since 2016 but the memory of a really good chicken burger finally brought me back. Would love to visit more often but this place is on the other side of town for me and closed on Mondays; which happens to be my only day off. Somehow, I got lucky today and had to be in PJ for a meeting and it is a Tuesday so the stars finally aligned.
Overall, we'll likely come again when we can. Portions are generous, prices are fair. Many options with a fusion flair. It somehow feels like one of the original brunch cafes in KL. And, I just love the name -...
