Chef Wong occupies a tiny stall in a small food court by the Section 17 flats (closer to the Rothmans intersection, not the Islamic University). What they lack in flash is more than compensated for by the great food, generous portions and reasonable prices.

I love their super flavourful asam laksa (round rice noodles in tangy tamarind-fish broth with mock fish strips, julienned cucumbers and pineapple, and garnished with fresh chillis and mint). This is the best version I've had in town. Another favourite is their Hainanese chicken rice. The soy chicken very closely replicates the flavour and texture of the conventional version. Their char siu (BBQ pork) is also good. The rice is cooked in a flavoured broth, certainly a cut above the plain white rice typically used at other places. I've tried the lor mee (noodles in a vinegary sauce) ordered by my friends and it's tasty, too.

Of their a la carte dishes, I've had the excellent paku belacan (ferns in spicy imitation shrimp paste) and pork in vinegar sauce, the only mediocre dish I've had here so far. All their meals come with complimentary soup, usually a light winter melon broth.

Keep in mind that they're closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. On their days of operation, they close between 3:00 - 5:00 PM. The dishes are mostly vegan so there are plenty of options here. Just check with the staff which dishes contain eggs. This place is a gem, so go...

This place is a hidden gem for vegetarian food! Sorry it's not a classy place for dining (as they are located inside a food court ala Singapore type stalls) But very economical & food tastes great. It got the traditional style food and good wok hei! They offer ala cart menu sweet sour fish, curries, vegetables stir fried etc. For individual servings, fried rice and hokkien mee noodles etc.

The downside is you have to be prepared to wait for food as there's only one chef cooking! There can be queue forming & you'd have to wait like half an hour! It's located at the end of some flats. Parking is by the roadside available.

I was charmed by the traditional surrounding & taste of food. Worth to mention too, there's the coffee, I ordered from a young couple & being served with robusta coffee with 3 long thin biscuits (childhood reminisce) costing less than RM 3! In these environment, it's special for me 😍 happy days!

Too bad...

The Vegetarian Food here is Good & Delicious. Price is affordable & reasonable. Especially the Kam Heong Sauce in bottles Chef Wong make & sell is highly recommended to Buy back to eat together with Rice or Porridge or to fry with others vegetable. Though the place is small & not really cooling, but the Food over comes all. Or else like me, I'll always order take away, may it be dishes or single order of rice eg. Vegetarian Chicken Rice or noodles like Assam Laksa & etc. Bon A...

Bit tricky to find but well worth the visit. The food is amazing but inexpensive. Staff are all business but efficient and busy. Can buy drinks from a separate business. Location gets busy with hungry locals and it doesn't seem like many tourists visit, a shame. Really is worth it for the food. Is a very small stall in a small building. Location can be a bit tricky to get to, particularly by public transport. Train station is 30 minutes walk away through busy streets with no sidewalks.

Delicious vegetarian food cooked upon order. I came on Wesak Day at 5pm. There was already a long queue. Was told to wait for an hour for food to be served because only 1 chef cooking. Glad that the tastes of the food was worth the wait. 2 person ordered 6 dishes. Total was RM70. I think it's reasonable and very fulfilling! Will definitely come again and recommend to all! Chef Wong, please hire another chef so customers don't need to wait so long for your delicious food. 😋

Forgot to snap photos - 2 of us had loh mee (RM9 giant bowl) & tempura mushrooms (RM13). Shop #12 Old Auntie bubur chacha was really good. Creamy santan, plenty of sago. The tubers were cooked to perfect firmness, really great instead of soft mushy pieces I had everywhere else. She's not on FB or Google Map; so I tumpang this page and hope more people can go support her shop. Zui Kueh & 2 bubur chacha (Total RM12)
