Found this place after i went to a nearby pastry cafe. Walking to my parking and saw "hey, what's that".
No signboard. Just "coffee & bakes" on the window.
Enter & its a small cafe with retro design. Small but cozy. Got few tables. Immediately met with the coffee machine & couple who run the cafe
Went twice. Had latte on my 1st & hojicha on my second.
The latte is very good. The beans have that fruity, berry, sour-ish note which is not my personal preference but i still appreciate the quality of it. It's a good bean, that is no doubt.
What i like is the drink is mixed (coffee & milk). There's not 2 layer of liquid. Its a homogenised perfect blend of espresso & milk. Not too much milk, not too bitter coffee. Just spot on
And i like that. It says alot about this cafe. It says they care more about the taste than aesthetics. The 2 layer of Espresso on top of milk in most cafe might look good but not practical. In the end we still need to mix them before drinking. Why not mix from the get go
Its serve with 1 big block of ice. Also brilliant. It means the ice melted slower & the latte get dilute slower.
All these seeming minor but actually important stuff this cafe do, tell me that they care. They care about their stuff & they care about their customers getting the best.
Same goes with hojicha. It's not as roasty as i would like. It's very mild, smooth, creamy. Easy to go down. But still very well balanced. Not too milky.
They also serve food but not much. I tried their yogurt cake & dark choc cookies. The yogurt cake is good. Its a nice cake, the acidity from yogurt make it less mual/jelak.
The cookie on the other hand very, very good. Got melted gooey chocolate insides. Not too sweet. Just nice
All in all. Very recommended. The couples are very friendly & very sweet. The cafe only open for 16 months. Very new & deserved all...
Read moreI usually wait sometime after my last visit before writing, just to let the euphoria fade and objectivity take its proper place. So, let's start with the drawbacks. I managed to think of one: it's not the best place if you're oversized. That's it, I can't think of anything else. Why? +point #1 - it's a tiny hole in the wall for you to escape the madding crowds. The minute you step through the door, you enter a cozy space... +point #2 -.....where you're greeted with quiet comfort, a perfect antidote to the frenzied world you left behind. Where you're immediately spotted by the friendly eyes of the Man. And he welcomes you with a smile if it's your first time. If it's your second visit or more, those eyes shine recognition matched by his smile. In contrast, the Woman is shy, reticent even. But her eyes twinkled with delight when I complimented her cake. +point #3 - the offerings. I don't gush about the places I've been. And I won't start here. The menu is very limited. I wouldn't say they're the best I've had either. But what sets them apart is the love and care they've both put into everything they do and it shows. If I had a 6th sense, I'd claim I could taste them in every sip and bite. And isn't that what every business owner should aspire to? The apple cake was crumbly, well balanced and light. Damn my doctor for restricting me to just one slice. The cookies were light in texture and melted readily in my mouth. I'm no coffee connoisseur, but it left a nice lingering aftertaste long after I left. Final point - I wish they'd open another place nearer me. But when I asked, his answer convinced me that they really do love their art. And for that, I'm more than ready to return. Again and again. In summary, if you wish for a place that welcomes you, comforts you, and feeds your soul, I can't think of a better...
