This very disappointing review is specifically pointed to this one stall, "Taiwan Braised Pork Rice" .
Ridiculously small portioning with below average taste, I was truly disappointed. However, my biggest shock for the day was actually their pricings..
This "6 SPOON GONE 经典卤肉饭 WITH VERY SADDENING AMOUNT OF BRAISED PORK AND HALF AN EGG" you see in my pictures attached was priced at RM12.90!!! Broad day light Robbery I'm calling it!!!
Upon receiving my meal, I couldn't hold myself but to question their only staff manning the stall. The answer I got was this: Sir, that's why I had asked if you would wanna consider ordering our set meal... Well, someone with good common sense would know it's never related to choosing a set meal or having the ala carte. Yes, by paying a decent few ringgit more, you'll get a bigger portion with side dishes.. I get it. BUT IT'S TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE CHARGING RM12.90 FOR THIS TINY BOWL OF RICE!!! The owners should be shameful and the management of the food court should seriously look into this.
Just when I thought I was at least lucky enough to have ordered a side dish, what I got in actual proved otherwise.. Cheap frozen pop corn chicken you can easily buy in supermarkets being sold as the famous Taiwanese 盐酥鸡.. Come on, put some efforts and show some passion lahhhhh... Nevertheless, I still noticed something nice about this stall.. Their menu pictures and the introductory video were superb!!! But too bad they're for illustration purposes only. In this case, job well done.
Don't get me wrong. I actually enjoy coming to The Foodies Nest. Have been here 3 times in total, and my first 2 visits were pretty satisfying. On both occasions, I ordered at Pho Real Vietnamese. Trust me, they're for real. Will definitely come back for them and might even try other stalls but never again Taiwan Braised Pork Rice.
Oh ya, when I requested for my receipt I couldn't get one. POS machine at fault I was told.. They were probably worried I'll use it to file a complaint with the Consumers' Department. Okok it's only my silly conspiracy theory...
Read moreFoodie's Nest food court located in Starling Mall is a nice place to try some very good food. Love the ambience at this place. It is brightly lighted with sunlight streaming in around the middle where the escalators are. Plenty of stalls spread around 360 degree all round. The deco is modern and lovely. Place is clean and there is even a small play area for children while parents have a piece of mind enjoying their meal. The stalls are mostly from famous restaurants. Champs's has its iconic prawn mee and char kway teow. CKT is still one of the best. Of course expect to pay premium price. Seafood noodles from JE Seafood is a must try especially the fish curd. I can just eat a whole bowl of this fish curd. According to the boss, all their stuff are made by themselves fresh and the fish curd is their own recipe made from eggs and fish paste. Price is reasonable. There is another store Pin Qian BKT from Klang. Tried the BKT noodles and it is very nice. Great change from the rice version. Enjoyed the broth very much. Price is reasonable at RM12.90. Popiah from Penang flavour was a dissapointed. Taste was rather bland. However the chee cheong fun is still one of my favourite. There is a big stall that sells pork chop, pork crackling rice, lap mei fan (only on Fri, Sat and Sun). Have yet to try this stall but worth checking it out. Another stall sells taiwanese hot pot. There is a beverage bar that sells some beer for those who wish to chill off. The coffee at this bar is very nice but remember to ask for less sweet. They sell our local kuih-muih too. For our muslim friends, there is a very nice separate section where Sambal Inc is located where they sell all the nasi lemak with fried chicken but looking at the prices, this place is pretty expensive. Not sure about the taste if it is worth the price. For nasi lemak, I would rather go for Village Park where you get the best nasi lemak at...

Remember this name because this might be one of best newcomers in the pork noodle scene, and add pork mixed soup in the equation for that matter.
Opening a stall in the popular Foodies' Nest in Starling Mall, I stumbled upon Dong Feng during my dinner hunt. For the uninitiated the food court is located on the 3rd floor of this shopping mall in the heart of Damansara Utama affectionally known as Uptown.
◾Traditional Pork Noodle - first impression was good with its murky and cloudy soup. First scoop and I was sold.. brimming with sweetness from the pork; and the meat texture generally tender and nice to chew. I finished until the very last drop. ◾White pepper pork soup with yam rice was their take on this popular fish from Mainland Penang. The soup had a good heat from the white pepper and the sweetness from the pork meat enhanced the flavour further. And don't get me start on the yam rice - nicely cooked with generous amount of the yam (some gave lesser yam because of the cost). Closer to the one I had in Butterworth and IMHO better than the one in Publika. ◾Lim Fried Chicken - one of my favourite fried chicken, never mind that it's commercialized as long as the quality is consistent. For me it's always fried whole leg with their sambal and curry.. but those hungry ones can go for their rice or CCF doused with curry and sambal.
For now Foodies' Nest remains my favourite food court to visit due to the extensive choices of food such as Uncle Lim Fried Rice, Vietnamese food, etc ... with Dong Feng another strong...
