Jom Canteen @ Jaya One — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

25.05.2025 1040am Sunday is my first visit here. I had the nasi lemak Ayam Berempah which was quite good. A good nice size of chicken thigh with good flavor, juicy and hot when cut in. The rice was nicely cooked with a nice santan taste. The sambal was good too, only slightly spicy. The staff at the counter taking orders was friendly and welcoming. I was also attended by a Chinese girl and she was friendly too. They have a competition eating nasi lemak with extremely spicy sambal today and I am happy to be able to watch it. The only thing not so pleasant about today was my tray was cleared off by the waiter without asking. I was a step away from my table when I was taking video of a participant. I still have my Tupperware and bag on that table, that indicates it's not done & occupied right. I still have rice on that plate and haven't finished my cup of drink. I went and asked the waiter. All he did was oh. He could have said a sorry to me but he didn't. So my food was wasted. Anyway the food was delicious, I will go back and try other...

As a foreigner exploring Malaysian cuisine, Jom Canteen has been a delightful discovery. Their Nasi Lemak is truly exceptional—easily one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The coconut rice was perfectly fragrant, the sambal had just the right balance of heat and sweetness, and the crispy accompaniments tied everything together for an authentic and unforgettable experience.

The coffee was another highlight—smooth, creamy, and with just the right touch of sweetness. It was the perfect complement to the meal and added to the overall enjoyment.

Kerpok lekor was big and so sedap!!! Freshly made, panas. Worth the wait. Nonya style curry noodles also sedap. Honey lemon (iced) was sweet they way I like it.

Very friendly staff, asked the counter guy for recommendations and the food I ordered based on his recommendations did not disappoint. The place is clean and neat 💯

Supervisor Zaki was also very friendly to customers coming in and out of the stall, promptly clearing tables right after customers leave and checking in with ongoing customers if everything is okay. Based on observation, he is very proactive and has good customer service skills.
