Read moreThis authentic Thai establishment is located at ground floor of The School, Jaya One. The restaurant is huge with stall-like concepts of all the dishes offered here. There is live band as well during dinner service, but we found it to be too noisy and intrusive for the diners. Maybe tweaking the volume or upgrading with a better sound system is recommended. Staff here is friendly, but we had some issue communicating well with the staff when ordering. But it was manageable. Ambiance was superb, not too hot eventhough it was packed with diners (efficient ventilation).
The only issue we had with the food is the green curry chicken we ordered. Unfortunately, it was like green curry "soup" as it was very watery to our liking. But, the flavour is good and tasted delicious. Probably if the curry was creamier and thicker, it would have been perfect. Needed more chicken pieces as well. The star of the show must be the street fried Thai chicken wings and the Thai style deep fried fish with sweet & sour sauce. The fried chicken wings were fried to perfection and it was not too dry as well. Quite difficult to get deep fried chicken wings that are moist & tender. Bursting with flavour as well. The deep fried fish with sweet & sour sauce was excellent. Same as the deep fried chicken wings. The other dishes like the Tom yam, fried veggie surpassed our expectations as well. The Thai fish cakes were superb as well. Highly recommend to try.
Dessert was good as well, recommend to have the red ruby. It was a really good complement after a superb meal. Mango with sticky rice was okay, but probably needed more of the coconut santan sauce. The pulut (sticky rice) was good. The taro iced and butterfly pea tea was fantastic as well. Pricing was decent and the food quality was fantastic. Recommended for big groups. Service was fast eventhough it was jam packed...
Read moreNajwa came back from work craving for the most delicious, succulent and crispy fried chicken ever, and asked for any options where to go for dinner. Daniel & Etty gave their suggestions, hence we finally decided on the STREAT Thai at Jaya One.
We arrived at 8:30 pm, and found a nice table for 3 at the right side of the main entrance. Upon flipping through the menu, Najwa immediately ordered the Hatyai Chicken, which seemed to have satisfied her criteria, and it came with a small serving of glutinous rice ( nasi pulut), which is my favorite to say the least. She also requested for a bowl of Tom Yam Maggi for herself, and a serving of Fried and Crispy Chicken Wing for us to share. I was still undecided, but was quite taken by the Fresh Salak juice as mentioned by Najwa and went to ask for it. Eventually, I fixed my desire on the Deep Fried Garlic Prawns to complement the Crab Meat Fried Rice already ordered by my wife. And we were all set for such a glorious dinner!
To our surprise, Najwa had actually ordered 3 sets of the Hatyai Chicken, one for each of us!! Now obviously we were already quite fully loaded by the time all the orders had arrived. Hence, we decided to pack the extra Hatyai Chicken to go, and focused our attentions on the remaining dishes. Being the filial daughtef that she is, Najwa simply laughed it of when I quipped that we had definitely gone over the limit. She even picked up the hefty bill as well...
Therefore, we cant wait to come here with the rest of our family members to repeat this glorious...
