Food was dreadful.
My family and I first had Maharaj in Ipoh, the food and service was beyond our expectations, this was reflected on my Google review for them.
I have confirmed this with the employee and this branch is indeed under Maharaj Ipoh.
Firstly, the food was a real disappointment. All of the dishes are very sweet and have little to no spice. The garlic naan was hard and thin. The biryanis were bland and all the dishes did not come with any side dishes, e.g curries etc. We did order chicken chettinad and gobi manchurian. The chicken barely had any meat (mostly big pieces of bones) and the gravy had no taste. The gobi manchurian was extremely sweet and the essence of how it should have tasted was lost with us. I also ordered ginger tea for myself and was expecting it to be made inhouse but they served me a packet of teh halia.
Secondly, the place is not well kept, you can see a build up of dirt and dust on the ceilings lights, air conditioners, etc. Not a pleasant view when you decide to have a meal.
Thirdly, the price is way too high for quality of food you are getting and honestly, even if the food was priced similar to a mamak restaurant, I would still choose not to eat here.
I will NOT recommend this place, it certainly does not live up to the...
Read morehad lunch at The Maharaj Restaurant in PJ, and I must say it was a lovely experience from start to finish. The restaurant has a calm, heritage-style ambiance that gives you a touch of traditional Indian royal vibes without feeling too fancy or overwhelming. It’s Muslim-friendly, which makes it a great choice for a Malay friends as well.
The food was flavorful and satisfying. I tried their chicken pakoda as well and it was well-prepared with the right blend of spices. Portions were decent and enough to leave me full but not stuffed. Their variety is good, and everything tasted freshly made.
One thing I appreciated was that despite the beautiful setting and the quality of the food, the prices were quite reasonable. It felt like I got good value for my money. Also, the staff were polite, and service was decent. not too slow, not rushed either.
If you’re looking for a spot in PJ to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine in a quiet, aesthetic setting, I would definitely recommend giving The Maharaj a try. I’d be happy to come back again, maybe with friends or...
Read moreA 20 year old Indian restaurant located at Jalan Gasing , first time going to this place and it was really impressively . They had enough parking space and the appearance was just different than other places I’ve been to 💯 The day I went they had a ROM function hence I got a private seating area and it was really nice . They had a wide range of cuisines and some exquisite dishes that can’t be found in other places . Seems interesting and all their chefs are well experienced from India . I ordered their Mutton dum Briyani as the main , some garlic naan with mutton gravy as sides , drinks masala tea and madras coffee and deserts gulab jamoon & kulfi . The mutton Briyani definitely came in generous portion and big chunks of lamb it and was flavourful . I really liked their naan was crispy and can feel the garlic taste well . My personal fav was my was the gulab jamoon , it was perfect and a must try ✅ Overall their service was top notch fast , efficient and they really take the time to speak to us despite being busy . Definitely will visit them...
