CONCEPT BAR UPSTAIRS NEEDS WORK - The food downstairs at Makhan is exceptional, they offer a decent combination of English and Indian dishes that each have their own version which tweak the originals for the better. The ambiance is also decent with the staff doing an excellent job.
My only complaint is with their new concept bar upstairs where they have brought in live music. The lighting setup creates a cool vibe and the band was excellent, smashing out acoustic ballards at recording studio standards. We were shown the wine bottle list but since it was just two of us for an after-meal nightcap, we went for 2 double gins. We were the only customers and were told that there was a minimum spend of 500 MYR to account for the band. I thought it was a joke that two people would be expected to drink 3 bottles of wine or share one bottle of whiskey on a Wednesday night so I confirmed again and to my surprise we were told again that it was to pay for the band. Then we were told that since the gin was open, we could have glasses (it was an option for glasses on the menu). The whole experience felt cheap and amateurish. We left after the vibe turned sour, which is a shame because the band was excellent.
TLDR: the food downstairs is the best in the area, but until they sort out the silly rules upstairs we will be...
Read moreVisited this place for the first time with my girlfriends and loved every bit of it! A very cosy place located in Gasket Alley with excellent service. Was told that the place is usually crowded so we made reservations in advance however when we were here on a weekday night, it was actually quite empty. Food was excellent, Asian-Fusion range of food and especially love the combination of spicy and cream! Menu has a wide range to offer so you definitely will find something to your preference but my personal favourite had to be the truffle pizza, yums! We had stout and it was perfect pint served in chilled glass so that's a plus point. Would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a place that serves good food, drinks and also setting not too noisy so you can chat without disruption. Kudos to management for doing such an...

Starters: Sausage in trouble (masala stir fried sausages) Onian Bhaji ( deep fried onion fritters) Fish Tikka (boneless fish cubes in Tandoori masala) Mains: We tried 3 Pizza varieties ( Indian Margharita with Paneer, Mutton and Butter Chicken toppings respectively) Lamb Goulash Chicken and Chips
11 pax with several repeat orders of dishes and some beers (RM400++) Food was cooked and served within good time. Efficient waiters and swift service.
The mutton meat was a little chewy. But still all in all it was a rather...
