6 Jan 2022 - The British Raj was excellent. We found out about this place the day before and made a beeline the very next day. We were the first customers. Ambience and decoris more of a higher end bar than a restaurant. We ordered a mutton curry set and a butter chicken set, which came with drinks. And we also ordered a couple of draught beers.

The mutton curry was just excellent. Tender, and full of flavour. The white rice was really very good, looking almost like a Briyani. Accompanied with some crackers and a raita, which I am not normally fond of but this was good. So too the butter chicken. Perhaps a tad sweet but still good although some more spice would be great. The romli bread was soft and fluffy too.

This bill came to rm90+ which is very reasonable. And while the portions are small, the pricing justifies it.

Wait staff were excellent with 'Darwin' providing excellent information and attention throughout.

Definitely returning for more. Kudo to the owners. I hope food quality is maintained.

29 Jan 2022 - again greeted with excellent food and very good service. Toddy shop prawns, fish cutlets, butter chicken, minced lamb meatballs, pork vindaloo, mutton masala, gobi manchurian, among others. All were great, except the butter chicken. Service was excellent with Neil on hand.

29 May 2022 - we had the Mutton masala, lamb meatballs, fish cutlets, Gobi manchurian, toddy prawns, sizzling mutton, butter chicken, combination nasn and the romali. It was excellent. Service was spot on with Neil taking centre stage and always on the ball. Great place for dinner.

12 June '22 - again superb food and stellar service. Never tired of this place. Kudos...

British Raj is yet another hidden gem in the city which offers mesmerising Anglo-Indian Cuisine, reflecting the period where India was under British rule from 1858-1947 🏰😍

Mini Chicken Murtabak - Beautiful dough pillows filled with tasty spiced minced meat then grilled on a hot plate till crisp. Served with yesterday’s chicken curry. I loved the dough as it was soft yet thick, absorbing the intoxicating curry which was rich and flavoursome. Gandhi's Skewered Vegetables And Cottage Cheese Platter - This dish showcases the true flavors of the vegetables in multiple marinades. It comprised of onions & capsicum skewered with button mushroom, cottage cheese, potatoes & cauliflowers. The vegetables were traditionally cooked at high temperatures in a tandoor, resulting in perfectly seasoned and marinated skewers. Taste was below average tho (paneer was tasteless and rubbery & the taste of onions overpowered everything else). Calcutta Gulab Jamun - Fried dough ball that is soaked in a sweet, delicate, rose water infused sugar syrup. This is an elevated recipe from Calcutta and has a light yet profound finish on the palate.

In essence, I truly appreciated the dishes which encompasses both British & Indian kitchen. Not were they only rich in history, but intense in spices and taste as well. Packaging was tip top too. They have an extensive menu and I will definitely revisit them again; trust me one visit isn’t enough as you will be spoiled with...

Surprisingly underwhelming :/

Interior design of the place is beautiful, nice place with lighting done right and alot of fun quote hanging on the wall.

I was under the impression that food + service + atmosphere must be great cause they are in the area where 'only good stuff can survive', I was slightly taken back.

The night I went was a random Wednesday night, throughout the night there are only 2 tables occupied and my table is the only table that has more than 5 pax.

Food - Naan, butter chicken, masala tea werr great. Just that everything bread related they don't have, not even their signature lamb with bread. Pretty gutted as that's the dish we wanna try, in the end we ordered the dish just without the bread. Bread pudding also cannot cause no bread

Service - once we sat down, very good that one of the crew came over so some recommendations then we ordered. While we were eating, we wanna order more drinks, get more tissue, check on the dishes status and it was so hard to get their attention. Besides the fact that we are the only table with more pax, give more attention lar.

Hopefully they can improve, not complaining just wanna share my personal experience...
