new location of cherished food court. present location has excellent visibility of the sprint, and enables assess as to whether kicking off is worthwhile. it's fine to stay, obviously.

ming tien was among earliest of food establishments to offer wifi. imagine that, people opening up laptops at their tables. also trailblazer for non-local cuisine, back when vietnamese was regarded exotic.

they're ok in here and now, if claypot chicken rice is any indication. pot arrives at table wreathed in steam and wine fumes. chicken is tasty, tender and toothsome. in manner possible only with claypot cooking, which continues as you eat. ditto lap cheong and salted fish.

rice was just right degree of juicy, which is to say absorbent without sentimentality. and basil ornamentation added unfussy fragrance. earthy and soulful eating, especially when weather howls and traffic snarls outside.

lam mee is about as good as you'd find anywhere, uptown or down. bowl of comforting gravy over premium payload, all treated with care and skill. prawn, chicken and fish-cake are all tender and toothsome.

curry mee isn't exactly canonical penang, with the soup as much milk as santan. sambal otoh is next level, with shrimpy base notes really coming through. which you'll of course drown out if you dunk entire spoon.

that said, CM is gentle enough to consume as soup. sans noodles, if that's your thing.

steamed soup, at least saiyong choy edition, is comforting bowl of heart and soul.

sichuan dumplings, mild version at least, were good. oink and pastry were tasty, fresh and bouncy.

noodles otoh seem prone to being waterlogged. that said, ngau lam min (mild version in any case) features sizeable beef chunks which are just right amount of fatty. with radish being perfect backup element, and pepper soup bringing gentle heat.

taiwan place has light touch with deep fry. chicken, pork and squid are all tasty, tender and toothsome.

I miss the old Ming Tien at Taman Megah. That place has a better atmosphere and more stalls and a good variety of food. This one is missing the stalls I used to love like the shark fin soup mee and many more. Thought lunch time has less stalls but came at night and there were not that many stalls open too.. must be hit hard by the pandemic.

Ordered a red kolo mee (char siew sauce). The pic reminds me of the red pontian tomato wonton noodles. So decided to try it out. It is different but no regrets, loved this. The thin sliced char siew is tasty. The red sauce is great too. The char siew sauce that makes the noodle red does not taste overpowering. I I like the minced meat taste too. Tried the Sarawak laksa from this stall. Not for me, too pedas and can't tastse anything else. Also the shrimp cooked so long until shrunk and powdery.

Tried the braised beef noodle and china wonton soup. The beef noodle was pretty good and the beef was soft. Liked it. Although slightly spicy, finished off the whole thing. The china wonton is as expected.. with thick flour outside. Soup was tasty but super salty. Tried the braised beef rice too. Same as the braised noodle but with rice. Not sure this stall is busy or what... sometimes standing in front of the stall and ready to order but the worker just pass by and ignored me.

Saw a small pastry stall that sells seremban siew pau, lou po bing (wife's biscuits, pineapple tart, karipap, tambun biscuits, etc.).

Curry laksa have curry chicken pieces inside (4). The curry chicken is from their dry curry chicken so the flavour is in the meat. However no...
