Bosko Restaurant & Lounge Bar — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

So I come to this place quite frequently, and the service has been so-so for a while now. Bill takes forever to come, wrong orders, some food quality dropping slightly, some niggling issues here and there, but nothing major to upset me unlike what happened today.

We booked a place for 6 at 7pm and arrived at 715pm. The staff gave a call to ask us to reconfirm our seats at the sofa at 7ish, and yes we said ok. Arrived but found that the warm July evening air was blowing in, making it too warm for a comfortable dinner with friends.

We asked to be shifted into the inner space and a waiter said ok. So we moved in. 5 minutes later, this other waiter comes in and says that the table in the inner space was already booked, despite there being no reservation marker, and despite them initially being ok with us being there. And we had to shift back to our initial warm sofa table, after telling us that if the party doesn't show up by 8pm, we can move back in.

So 815pm comes and still no sign of the inner table being occupied or even reserved in this restaurant which was only sitting at 25% capacity. After approaching the staff for an answer, now it's changed to 830pm. Of course I lost my cool and demanded an answer why they were holding a space for no good reason. The manager grudgingly explained with a scowl that we had to honour our initial booking at the sofa, and that they had to wait 30mins before they release their initial 'booking' time of 8pm. To their credit, they did shift us there at 830.

Why on earth did they not tell us that initially? And why does it seem that that manager and his staff are punishing his paying customers for making that sofa booking by making us sit at our initial sofa table?

It leaves a bad aftertaste as the communication can definitely be improved. Poor attempt at service, Bosko. Now this has really made me think twice before spending my...

The 2stars I gave was for :

1. the staff Waitresses was easy on the eyes. Even some of the waiters are good looking.
2. beverage list was decent. Especially the wines

3 missing stars are due to :

1. food. Everything I ordered was terrible. The «ring of fire» which translates to fried squid rings was chewy which obviously mean frozen too long. The signature beef burger isn't worth the title. It's just beef patty, lettuce, tomato and cheese without any special sauce. The pizza is also obviously frozen. The Caesar salad uses quick-easy-made-ready bottle dressing with cold croutons.
2. atmosphere Since they allow smoking in the premises, ventilation is terrible.
3. service Even though we weren't smoking, and had to sit at the corner, it was torture just to get the staff to come over. When we ordered our food and drinks, staff was forgetful and I had to remind her a few extra times what I ordered. And to make matters worse, even my beverage came out wrong.

Tiger prawn aglio olio Capellini too dry Tiger prawn is not fresh and soggy flavour doesn’t have fragrance of the garlic and the chilli flakes is overpowering other thing.

Chicken pesto pizza pizza is too soft is not crispy Basil is good but it doesn’t pair with coriander. (It’s a weird combination) I don’t think there’s any chicken inside

Chicken roulade The filling is tasteless risotto is overcooked

Striploin ordered medium well but is also well done

Mushrooms soup I can do it better ✌️

Food rating 4/10 Environment 3/10 I don’t think is suitable for other guests to smoke inside the dining room while there’s non smoker and children too A/C can be cooler it is quite humid inside Server is not well trained need more improvement
