This restaurant had only started operating in January this year, but lately it had been aggressively "viralled" in social media outlets. This had prompted my wife to keep on nudging me to try it out. And finally, this morning we had the opportunity to do so.
It is located only about 3 kilometers from where we live, but the neighborhood was not very familiar to us. Upon our arrival, it was a total surprise to us to find such a modest and unassuming place, but it had a unique rustic charm to it. Being situated directly facing an apartment dwelling would ensure a constant market and demand, as long as they serve good quality foods..
My wife immediately ordered Lempeng Pisang (Flat Banana flapjack), as well as Lempeng Kelapa...as if those were not sufficient, she also requested for Kaya Toast with Half boiled eggs on it, what they referred to as Roti Titab. Not to be outdone, I also decided to indulge myself with a glorious serving of Nasi Lemak, which came with a Fried Chicken Leg masak rempah, Sambal Kerang (cockles), and Paru Goreng. I guess both of us would be skipping lunch, based on the hefty breakfast we had taken.
As expected, my wife didnt or couldnt finish one of the lempengs she had ordered, and had to pack it to go. Together with Teh Tarik and Ice Tea, the total bill came to RM51.00, which my wife insisted was quite steep, but I thought the Nasi Lemak alone was worth the price. It is quite rare for people to serve nasi lemak with add ons, as you could adjust your orders according to your heart's desire. I found that the Sambal Kerang was very tasty and delicious, albeit a bit too spicy for me. And I would always prefer for all the sambals to be separated from the main nasi lemak plate. In this particular serving, they were all jumbled up together, except for the Sambal Paru, which was a tad to spicy also.
My wife was also not very satisfied that her Teh Tarik was served in a cup, instead of a mug or glass. I couldnt agree more with her, but my order of Ice Tea was properly served in a tall plastic glass, so I had nothing to...
Read moreTried Nasi Lemak Limoka recently and overall it was a pleasant experience.
I had the nasi lemak kukus with ayam berempah. The rice was flavourful and had a nice texture, not too dry or crumbly. The sambal was not sweet, which I really appreciated since I personally dislike overly sweet sambal. It did taste slightly salty, but it didn’t ruin the overall flavour. I got a chicken thigh, but the portion felt a bit small for RM12. However, it was balanced out by getting both half a boiled egg and a fried egg, so I guess RM12 was fair after all.
Also tried the lempeng pisang, it was tasty and approved. Though I think it would’ve been even better if they added a topping of grated coconut mixed with a bit of salt, for that extra kick.
I ordered a hot caffe latte for RM10 and it was really good! The latte art was beautiful, and the texture on top was smooth and velvety, almost perfect for me. It did taste a little too milky though, but still enjoyable.
I noticed their barista uses Monin syrups and Niko Neko matcha which is shows that they invest in quality ingredients and have some knowledge in good coffee and matcha. Kinda regret not trying the matcha latte, but I was too tempted by the caffe latte.
One small suggestion…maybe consider improving the sliding door. It was hard to slide and doesn’t seem suitable for the shop because feels like it could break easily.
The vibe of the cafe was super nice and chill, maybe because I came around 8:15am on a Tuesday, so it was still quiet and peaceful.
I did want to order half-boiled eggs, toast and roti titab, but unfortunately those weren’t available at that time which was a bit disappointing since I saw them on TikTok as part of the...
Read moreWith videos of this place circulating online, I had to visit and try out their nasi lemak. We ordered the nasi lemak kukus ayam goreng berempah, nasi lemak kukus ayam merah and 2 ala carte servings of sambal sotong and rendang daging each. Once our food was served, I took a whiff of the nasi lemak and I found that it wasn't as fragrant as I'd hoped for. The santan and pandan elements were mild in their version of the nasi lemak. Texture wise, it was grainy like how a good nasi lemak ought to be. The ayam goreng berempah was decent but I wished that it was crispier and the aromatics can be be stronger. The sambal nasi lemak leaned more towards the sweeter end with a watery light consistency and wasn't exactly fiery spicy which makes it suitable for those who can't take alot of heat. However I did enjoy the ayam merah as it was quite sizeable and the meat was moist. The lush sweet savory sauce coats the chicken nicely and I would recommend this over the ayam goreng. As for the sambal sotong, I loved the robust texture of the sotong bits unlike those super bouncy ones that taste rather artificial. The sambal itself was rich but again I felt the aromatics can be upped here. Lastly the rendang daging hits the right spot with its taste and aroma, but some chunks were bit chewy so that can be improved surely. Overall, the food was decent and the plus point here is their indoor seating area so one can dine in...
