The pan mee was nice but their queue/numbering system is broken. I was given a number but my food was not served even after serving the patrons who came in and ordered 15-20 minutes after me.
This stall is notoriously known for serving slow and I came knowing that. So I consciously made a mental note of the time when I made my order.
What was hard to stomach was that when I remindekindly, the Chinese lady rudely denied the possibility of having forgotten or misplaced my order (they assign each order a bowl to queue) but 3 seconds later send the helper to ask me my order again because they have forgotten the no. in soup/dry and with/without egg. So I repeated patiently the order and I was again treated with rudeness as the helper only wanted to know how many eggs. (If you have forgotten a part of my order, there’s a real chance that you might have forgotten other specifications too. So might as well spend the extra 2 seconds to assure that the full order is correct right?)
I walked to speak to the Chinese lady again to understand whether they have indeed forgotten my order. Of course, another round of blatant denial. We are all humans and it is okay to mixed up / forget orders, what I really dislike is the attitude when I made full effort to communicate politely. And the fact that they denied having forgotten my order before and after asking me what...
Read moreHOCK THAI Kopitiam, a neighbourhood coffeeshop that you will see old folks having their morning chit chat routine and lunch hour working crowd. We come here for breakfast since during weekdays when we were here for lunch this stall closed at 11.30am. It's a pleasant surprise that we found out this stall is selling Hainanese Chicken Rice and Ipoh style Horfun Soup with poached chicken. We ordered both Chicken Rice and Horfun Soup. Hero of the menu is the Kampung Chicken. The chicken is smooth and tender drizzled with their unique soy sauce, the rice is very fragrant and their hor fun soup is with very flavorful. The meat balls are good as well.
Based on my personal...
Read moreVery clean and spacious hawker stall, with good air ventilation and fan. Parking is still not difficult to find, though in quite a secluded area. Delicious bowl of hand pulled pan Mee, RM8 for a small bowl. The broth is extremely clear yet sweet, no fishy taste, no MSG taste. The noodles is springy and chewy. The fried anchovies was slightly bit too salty, but neutralised by the broth. The minced meat is lean and not salty/black. Overall a very hearty warm comforting bowl of noodles, just like eating at home. The coffee was kinda diluted, RM2.20 for Kopi C kosong. The Siew mai was okay only, not very salty,...
