If you're on the hunt for authentic Indonesian flavours in the heart of Petaling Jaya, Restaurant Salam Tiara is a quiet contender worth noting—especially if you take your satay seriously. Their signature skewers are beautifully marinated, grilled just right, and refreshingly free of the unnecessary fat that too often gatecrashes the satay scene elsewhere.

The menu offers good variety and the food is consistently satisfying—flavourful, hearty, and reasonably priced, which always earns extra points in my book.

Now, onto service. When we walked in around 7:30 pm, the place was quiet—so quiet, in fact, that the staff seemed to be enjoying their own private retreat. A bit more attentiveness would go a long way, especially as the restaurant starts to fill up (which it does later in the evening). Let’s just say there's room—plenty of it—for a little polish on the hospitality front.

Parking? Surprisingly painless. Located directly opposite KFC in PJ New Town, the area offers ample roadside parking without the usual PJ chaos.

All in all, Salam Tiara delivers delicious food without fuss—and with just a touch of patience, you’ll leave well fed and...

Hungry as I was on a weekday after much time spent paying bills, I chanced upon this delightful restaurant for a quick lunch. And I was not disappointed. Service was prompt and friendly and the food, excellent. My first meal selection was the Ayam Gulai Penyet set that was served promptly. A good portion of chicken in the gulai plus piping hot rice and condiments satisfied my hunger. My second visit was within the week, this time on a Sunday, with a friend, for lunch. It was pleasant before we stepped in to the restaurant as there was ample parking, it being the weekend. Our shared meal consisted of Soto Ayam (slightly bland), Gado Gado (now this was delicious especially the peanut sauce, and a good portion of emping crackers, my favourite snack!), and Sate Kambing Maranggi (a really good portion of tender juicy meat, the best dish so far). I'm returning to Restoran Salam Tiara soon enough to try their fried fish sets, having noticed many diners ordering the restaurant's fried fish....

The food was excellent, with the satay being a standout dish—flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. The service was good as well; even though there was a small mix-up with our order, the server promptly apologized and quickly resolved it. The prices are also very reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality of food. While the service was generally good, it would be even better if they could enhance their service...

Decent and affordable pricing here in Restoran Salam Tiara. Most diners seem to be ordering the sizzling satay, which claims to be first of its kind in Malaysia. Taste was really good with the right mix of herb seasoning that goes well with peanut sauce. Spring roll with sweet sauce is also one of the favourite here. Most dishes here are traditional Indonesian and Malay, and Restoram Salam Tiara has 2 other outlets in Klang Valley too

Very tasty Indonesian/Malay food. We went for the ayam gulai and tilapia. Spent around rm28/pax but that included our sides, like telur dadar (big for 2ppl), pisang goreng, and popiah. It was a very filling meal, as they provided soup, crackers, sambal etc. Service was good, and meal is served quickly. Not very crowded. My only complaint was there were two flies bothering us at our table 😅 must have been attracted to the fish
