Hog it out @simplybydayork 🐽 Who doesn't love pork crackling? The crunchy, salty goodness is the perfect accompaniment to any meal. When you have a cheat day coming up, nothing is more satisfying than a serving of siew yoke – thin crackly crispy skin crowning pieces of tender perfectly roasted pieces of pork belly. What you get here is well seasoned slices of siew yoke that retain its porky aroma with a nice crackle from the skin.😋 Every main order comes with a few slices of crispy roasted pork which has a generous layer of fat intact to give you the compulsory melt-in-your-mouth sensation 🤤
They have plenty of hearty rice bowls with porkfection meat selections such as CharQuat pork ribs bento, braised belly LuRou, signature roast pork & luncheon meat. They also have a rotational menu which features their daily specials such as spicy prawns 😍🦐 Can’t decided what to get? Try their All-in-Bento which comes with three proteins, only at a price of RM21.90!! 😱👍🏻 What makes their rice bowls really unique is the fact that it comes with aromatic tomato rice, golden onsen egg which glistens from a mile away, and some pickled vege to cut off the greasiness 😜 Moreover, every coffee order is given unlimited refill during lunch hour (11am - 2:30pm) ☕️
It’s not all about rice here, as Simply by Da York also features a wide selection of instant ramens! 😍🍜 From premium to classics, they slay it all 💯 I went for the Myojo Mee Pok Dried Noodle & Indomie which was so so flavourful 🥹❤️ I was surprised by the taste the instant I took my first slurp as it tasted so much better as compared to the ones I made at home…I had to know what’s the secret behind it, so I asked the owner 🤔 Drum Roll 🥁…..The secret ingredient was pork oil 😍🐷 They toss their noodles in pork oil for that added flavour of porky goodness 🤩 Porkilicous!!! 🤭 Noodle price range is between RM9.90 ~ RM13.90 depending on what you get, but personally I find it super affordable, given the fact that they source their meat from a specialty butcher so it’s premium grade 😍🐖 You can hardly find a meal below RM10 these days, so this place is the right spot for you as it’s budget friendly and happens to also be one of the better places for crispy siew yoke 😆 ps they also sell craft beers! Siew York and Craft Beer is a match made in heaven & the best part is that you can get RM5 off for craft beers during happy hours (11am...
Read moreI am partial to small restaurants that are still run by the owners. The personal service and touch of these establishments are often unmatched.
The menu is somewhat limited but whatever they offer on the menu, they execute well. We tried the 3 types of pasta in the menu - lemon minty mushroom, carbonara and corinto mushroom pastas with add ons such as roast pork and tiger prawns. The pasta was light and tasted subtly different. Fortunately, they were not too spiced up - a common practice in Malaysian restaurants to liberally use cili padi or chilli flakes to cater to the local tastes. The prawn was extremely crispy and fresh. The signature roasted pork was pretty decent (but not the best in town). Crackling at the top was rather hard. There was also an order of braised pork which came with peanuts. The sauce went well with the rice. The lemon tea that came with the set was so so. The pickled cucumber was delicious. So much so that we bought a jar of it. Also like the casualness of the restaurants.
Plenty of parking is available in Jaya or digital malls and it is only a short walk of less than 200...
Read moreOn the table tonight is a twin bento of roast pork and char guat (RM19.90) by @simplybydayork . The bowl comes with an egg, pickled cucumber, crispy pork lard, roast pork and ribs on a bed of rice.
Flavour wise, it was alright but wasn't mind-blowing. The roast pork was crispy but wished there was more pieces. The ribs was not so good, a little dry but was marinated well. The rice I thought needed to be hot but it came room temperature. The accompanying chili is good.
Overall, I think flavour profile it can be increased a bit; the roast pork is good but I didn't like the dishes at room temp which I believe can be solved with a food warmer.
Simply by DaYork is located above 7E section 14. They are non halal and parking is difficult during the day and easy during the night.
