If you're in a hurry, skip this shop and walk across the road to Family Mart or head to any loklok food truck. The idea is the same - fishballs in hot soup and sauce by the side. If you have the time, then be prepared to wait it out with other diners outside the shop. Foldable chairs and stools are provided . Whereas, steamboat caters to larger crowds, Two Pesos serve smaller portion & would go well with single, couple or even family of up to 4 pax. I love the free sauces - such as fried shallots in oil , bean paste and chili - as it breaks the monotony of just having a pot of hot soup . If the portion is not enough ( portion size is fair ) , then there is the option to place side order such as cheese, eggs, pork balls etc . Service is prompt once you're inside the shop - you will find that staff working non-stop, constantly on the move . Also, do try out the drink selection - the shop has come up with fresh twist of flavours ( see the attached menu) , that is not usually found in the conventional steamboat shops . Overall, great value for money but just be prepared to wait in line - FYI. most diners here are young adults whom are willing to trade their time for a...
Read moreMake no mistake, this is a 5-star restaurant that unfortunately suffers from its own popularity of long wait times. However, everything else about the food and the experience here will leave you totally satisfied.
The concept is simple: each person gets to have their own pot of mini steamboat, with a pre-determined set of ingredients and also type of soup depending on what you order.
The ingredients given are mostly fresh, with delicious slices of pork, fish and other seafood delicately chilled rather than frozen. The vegetables are sweet and mix wonderfully when cooked in the pot. The various soup broths are also complimented by the variety of condiments on offer. Sauces, spring onions, chillies, fried shallots, garlic purees; these are all free for the taking for you to customise your meal to your heart's content.
In other words, you can cook it however you want, in exactly the way that you like. Compared to regular steamboat, there's much more control over how you want your food to be served.
For those who enjoy steamboat, this one's a must-try. For those who don't, who knows you might just change your...
Read moreThe quality of the food at Two Peso is reasonable, but what truly surprised me was the service provided at the restaurant. Customers are expected to fetch their own utensils, refill their soup, and even gather their condiments, all while still being subject to a service fee. This raises the question of what this service fee actually encompasses – is it solely for the act of serving the food, or does it entail more?
The situation was further exacerbated by the fact that I had to wait for five minutes after my food was served before realizing that I needed to obtain my own utensils. It would greatly enhance the dining experience if this information were prominently displayed, as the utensils area was tucked away in the back and not easily noticeable for those unfamiliar with the restaurant's layout. In conclusion, while the food itself is satisfactory, perhaps the shop could reconsider the service charge fee or, at the very least, have the staff provide utensils and...
