This nasi kandar stall has been one of my best favourite in town for some years now. Today I revisited to have a taste of their delicious offerings just so I could scratch that nasi kandar itch of mine. They have now switched to a semi self service where you get your plate of steaming rice and fill it up with whatever dishes you want. The famous ayam goreng is a must so that's what I got and for additional proteins, I got a serving of kambing kambing gulai. Next, the taugeh is a good complement to balance off the heavy curries and it gives a good crunch. Let's talk about the ayam goreng first. It's their signature dish here and one can easily agree. The chicken was crispy, sizeable and meat was moist. The rempah delivered a very good aroma and the batter wasn't too heavy. Having said that, I'm unsure if it might be a conscious decision but today the chicken seem bit smaller. Don't get me wrong because the size now is definitely not tiny but I recall the ayam goreng was bigger and juicier compared to mine today. The kambing gulai today was sadly bit chewy and I would have enjoyed it if it was more tender. The winner for me here was their blend curry offerings. I don't just mean the variety of it but also the taste. I personally like how it was cooked with noticeable aromatics and spices yet all the ingredients somehow felt perfectly balanced and tuned. The consistency of their curries were done just right in my opinion - rich but not too thick or slurry like. The only drawback to dining here would be the lack of parking during peak hours and the dining environment here can get uncomfortable as one will no doubt smell like nasi kandar as you leave the place. Overall, I still hold my opinion that this is one of the best nasi...

🍛 Rice + fried chicken (small) + vege + salted egg + begedil = RM11
🍛 Rice + fried chicken (small) + vege = RM7
🍛 Rice + fried fish + vege + salted egg = RM10
Price wise, it’s pretty reasonable and the chicken is pretty big to be considered “small”. Haha. However, I found there’s a lack of “oomph” to the whole thing, like there’s just something missing that binds the whole plate together 🤔 Fried chicken was rather bland, sis said the skin is yummy but I can’t say the same cos the mak cik gave me the piece that’s without skin (naked chicken) 😢 Fried fish was not bad, well fried and topped with cili padi paste.
There’re only about 2-3 choices of vege (beans sprout, cabbage and okra) - we got the beans sprout and cabbage and both were so blannddddd ☹️ Even the colour is pale (as seen in my pics). Free papadom that’s self service.
Overall hygiene is questionable. Haha. If you really wanna try, just have to turn a blind eye to it. Owner and workers are friendly...
