Been here multiple times and love their menu and food options. Our absolute favourite are the shiro curry udon and their donburi bowl.
Shiro curry udon is like a white curry, creamy but not too overwhelming. And I can’t seem to find shiro curry elsewhere in kuching nor able to find any similar recipe online! Their donburi bowl always looks very pretty, it’s a hearty meal with many veg and side dishes (often with Wakame, soft boiled eggs and mashed potatoes).
For egg lovers do try out their Tamagoyaki skewers. And the premium uji matcha dessert is a must order everytime we come. Though we would much prefer if the ice could be finer, but nonetheless it’s a good combo of sweetness with that red bean paste and matcha ice cream.
Okonomiyaki was also not bad but I personally prefer it with less mayonnaise as it can tasted a little too sweet and jilat by the end.
Price wise, appetiser, donburi and noodles are reasonably priced with good portion. The maki or special handrolls similar pricing as sushi Zanmai. But I would recommend here because the service is better and the portion is bigger.
Plenty of parking at night but very difficult to get parking during daytime or office hours.
Updated review 6/12/2024 They had changed their menu and prices are steep. Our favourite desserts are no longer on the menu. Everything price hike for 30% of so. Noodles from base price also hiked by maybe 4 ringgit or so. In the past 3 people with similar amount of food ranged around 150 MYR. With the new menu it can reach 200-240.
Food quality still similar except the chicken katsu on my favourite shiro udon is smaller in portion. We had their ice blended drink - matcha red bean and yogurt. Tasted rather bland. Not...
Read moreI am totally disappointed with what had happened. 1st, I ordered one set diner in dinner and one take away. One waitress came to me with my takeaway food after sometime. I was puzzled why am I given my take away food before my dine in dinner? Maybe it caught her off guard, she did not seems to know what to do with it. 2nd, it was fried udon which I have ordered for take away, which simply mean I won’t expect the food to taste good after all. They just left it in the kitchen without keeping it warm until I asked for it before checked out. 3rd, my dine in dinner was kimchi tori set... I found an uncooked piece half way through, which I wasn’t sure if I have taken any uncooked pieces as I was enjoying YouTube at the same time. I called for assistance... they told me they are going to check with the chef then never come back. One waitress did try to console me a little, again, ensure they will check and revert. 4th, Well... after waited for awhile without any answer, I decided to call for bill and leave. Then only I realized they are preparing a new set for me. Hello... ain’t you supposed to come back to me?? I may not want another set! There were two senior captains right there and couldn’t handle this right. What more do U expect about the “good services”. Conclusion, i still paid for my take...

I had lunch with my mom here and enjoyed a delicious meal. The salmon was fresh and served with generous cuts.
The ambience was relaxing with Japanese style decorations and windows overlooking the outside views.
I truly commend the service, especially of one staff member, whose name I didn’t get to know. She was the most courteous and amiable throughout our whole dining experience when catering to our needs.
We also ordered the osmanthus jelly to be served after our meal. However, as we were in a rush and don’t usually order desserts when we eat out, we paid and left before the dessert was served. We totally forgot about it😅😅
When we remembered about the jelly, we went back to the restaurant to see if we could still claim it. At the cashier, we were attended to by the same lady and she immediately knew what we came for. She quickly went and prepared our jelly before profusely apologising to us. I couldn’t thank her enough and clarified that it was our fault too for forgetting about the order.
For locals or visitors to Kuching , I highly recommend this restaurant for a good Japanese meal prepared using fresh ingredients and served by warm, professional and friendly...
