Restoran MaiiShellOud Port Seafood — Restaurant in Selayang Municipal Council

My son has recommended me this place and me/wife decided to try it - 5.00 pm - 12/08/22. I love the concept - kind of Islamic Sunnah way of eating out incorporating QR Code scanning for ease of ordering online.

We decided to try MaiiShellOud Original (sort of a mixture of various seafood) - with Kuah (Buttermilk) .

Since we're lovers of spicy food coupled with sambal belacan it was a BIG WOW!! (I noticed the sambal belacan must have a mixture of palm sugar (gula melaka) which made it so delicious)

Kopi 'O' (Plain coffee) for me and iced lemon juice for my wife - blends perfectly with the food.

The staff were very helpful when asked to take photos of us and they deserved compliments. (haven't tried when the place is full and would I get the same treatment :-)

The ambience/vibe is good.

I would say the price is affordable - not too expensive - not too cheap.

It makes me wonder on the other hand on the possible difficulty - would be for a non-tech or elderly people or disabled people (OKU) to be able to use QR Code scanner effectively.

Perhaps this should be taken into account. Lucky for me and wife - we're both technical oriented.

At the time of our visit, there was no debit/credit card for Paywave or Pin unless on the page online - so I paid cash - Maybank ATM is not that far except for the queue and parking. This is also another matter need to be improved, have a multiple choice of cash and cashless payment. Some customers may not like to have to install QR Code apps or to use Facebook etc. For us, it's fine but again customers must be given choices of payment in order not to turn them off.

pergi lunch berdua with my mom. order via QR, nampak talapia bakar. order lah. dah place order, tiba kata talapia takde. kalau xde, update lah QR tu kata out of stock, kan senang. nasib baik tak tekan pay now lagi. so cancel la talapia. order shellout rm55. yg penuh kupang dgn lala. sotong pakai sotong ring je. ketam kecik ya amat, tu pun dapat separuh badan lepas tu isi nya hilang dah berderai dengan sambal shellout. teruk gila. tak berbaloi langsung rm55. sambal dia ok je. kena dgn tekak melayu. brocolli dgn jagung pun dah berbau lama. sedih. order kerang bakar, sedap. saiz besar2. order chicken wing pun sedap makan panas2. air pun sedap. oh, nasi habis dlm tong tapi tak sedar sbb tak ada org check. saya yg kena panggil bgtahu. boleh staff tanya saya balik, "nasi habis ke?" . saya tanya dia, dia tanya saya balik. baik ambik sy sbg staff je. smpai shellout dah tabur atas meja, nasi tak ada lagi. sedih. lepastu nak bayar kat counter sbb talapia dalam QR sy tu belum kena cancel. so, nak pergi lah cancel kat counter (kan dah susah. QR ni memudahkan, bukan menyusahkan). drpd jauh nampak counter takde org. so kebetulan ada sorang staff tepi saya, sy pun kata nak bayar. dia suruh sy pergi counter. sy pun pergi. saya ingat dia lah yg akan jd cashier. tapi bukan. org lain. so tercegat la sy depan counter tunggu cashier. bila pandang mata setiap staff dgn mengharapkan utk diorg panggil cashier cepat, masing2 elak mata, pandang tempat lain. sabar je lah aku. dah la takde loceng ke apa kat counter utk panggil cashier. lama weh tercegat smpai org pun dah pandang2 aku. sampai lah cashier keluar drpd nun jauh di dapur sana. baru lah settle bayaran. tolong enhance system so that I dont have to come to the counter just to cancel food. if system auto cancel, i can straight away pay from QR site. takpayah susah2 tercegat kat counter. your staff ramai, tapi service ke laut. train your staff utk tahu order apa yg available seperti nama2 ikan. bila kita tanya ikan apa je yg ada, duk tersengih2 mcm kerang busuk pastu panggil member kat dapur...

Honestly speaking Sauce for the shellout menu it’s good, but it’s all from frozen seafood, not from fresh catch, with additional added bamboo clam, with disgusting smell and the bite is soft, definitely it’s not fresh anymore..

I’ll says all those clams, lala, flower crabs is frozen and NOT a fresh one, might be because of this they provide strong taste sauce to cover those smells. sorry to says, I felt disappointed with it.

But tomyam fride rice is nice.

Maybe it’s my false to have higher expectations on the food, but end up… sorry I...
