After reviewing a post on Facebook and a Google review concerning the current issue brought up by an individual, I personally went to meet the manager of the Homst restaurant this evening to clarify things before drawing conclusions. The manager appeared to be kind and explained the situation. It was clearly misleading. The manager informed me that these dogs have been at the restaurant for almost a year. If he had wanted to remove them, he would have done so much earlier, definitely not now. This is a significant misleading.
As a restaurant manager, he has a responsibility to take care of customers and maintain the restaurant's environment. He cannot expect everyone to be comfortable with dogs roaming around, especially when Muslim customers visit. He also mentioned that a few customers had expressed discomfort with the dogs being present. He tried to address the situation and sought help from anyone willing to assist. Unfortunately, no one came forward.
Furthermore, he shared that two dogs were harmed by a foreigner in the area late at night, this tragic incident happened few months ago, he felt so disheartening that he filed a police report, but without concrete evidence, there was little he could do. And today I saw one of the dogs with three legs calmly approached him when we tried to trap him. I have personally seen these dogs recently near the Society restaurant, and there have been no complaints against them. They appear to be...
Read moreRecently visited Homst, a Chinese Muslim restaurant in Shah Alam, and I had a delightful experience. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was cozy and welcoming.
The Black Pepper Chicken Rice was a standout dish. The chicken was tender, and the black pepper sauce was perfectly balanced, giving just the right amount of heat without overpowering the other flavors. The rice was fluffy and complemented the dish perfectly.
For the soup, I tried the Taufu Crab Meat Soup. It had a rich, savory broth with soft tofu and generous chunks of crab meat. The texture was smooth, and the flavors were comforting â it made for a perfect starter.
Lastly, the Crab Stick Siew Mai was a pleasant surprise. The siew mai was filled with fresh, flavorful crab stick, and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. The combination of the soft dumpling skin with the filling was just the right texture.
Overall, I highly recommend Homst if you're looking for delicious Chinese Muslim cuisine in Shah Alam. The portions were satisfying, and the prices were reasonable for the quality. I'll definitely be returning to try more...
Read moreBeen eating here for years. But lately, the quality and taste is somewhat compromised. Homst has always been our favourite go-to for halal chinese food. But after my recent experience, it might be our last visit here.
We came for early dinner. My husband and children ordered rice with dishes and dumplings noodle. I, on the other hand, ordered the Singapore fried mee hoon. Whilst my familyâs dishes were ok, but mine was such a disappointment.
The dish wasnât piping hot. Some parts of the mee hoon was cold. The chicken breast slivers in the dish were cold and a bit undercooked and tasted bland (not seasoned). The prawns were fresh, that was good. I called the waiter to sent the dish back for a re-fry. It came back hot, but still lacking in taste and seasoning. In the end, I requested to take it home (so I could re-fry it myself at home!) I could easily rejected the meal and walk away, but I paid RM12 for it, hate to see it wasted.
Hope Homst will improve or they will see loyal customers...
