Guys, for the record, this is NOT nasi beriani (long grained Basmathi) or nasi kandar (usually white rice), but NASI LEMAK, mamak style (spices, with tumeric, no santan), with nasi kandar-styled dishes.
If you are from Alor Setar, you'd be familiar with these kinds of nasi lemak around town, namely Nasi Zam-zam, Nasi Lemak Hj. Ali, Nasi lemak Hj. Sultan and Nasi Lan Kedah, just to name a few of the famous ones.
Please do not generalize, there are also many nasi Kandar outlets in Alor Setar, but locals do visit either ones according to their fancy.
As a Kedahan, I only eat nasi kandar while in Penang...but it's always THIS kind of Nasi lemak (mamak) when back home in Kedah.
