As a person who’s not very familiar with Shah Alam, Google as usual was my “Go To”. I was in the mood for banana leaf rice and Tanah Aina Cafe came up among the top 10 in the search result. Getting to the place was a breeze and parking was relatively easy since it was in a residential area.
The restaurant was OK full even at close to 2PM and as we enter we were greeted by nice aromatic smell. I was looking forward to a nice meal.
Unfortunately we were not greeted nor anyone was paying attention to us. We found an empty table, got ourselves seated and again - no one notice us still. I can see that there were only 2 waiters, a lady was manning the cashier area but they were all relatively occupied, not extreme busy but occupied yes.
So I tried to signal them, first waiter looked a little distracted, second waiter saw me and we were finally given a menu.
I honestly have not research much of this restaurant since it was near us. Only to find that there’s no banana leaf rice in the menu. I could only guess from some of the other review after we left that it’s actually the other restaurant next door, which wasn’t open apparently.
Anyway we were confused though menu choices still looks attractive. We decided to leave after a while as we were still very much left unattended. So…no food review...

As soon as we were done with our food, the restaurant got busier so better to make reservations if you plan to come during peak hours and in large group. Aside from that, lovely ambiance, amazing service, love the attire of the staffs, it truly brings out a character to the restaurant. Great selection of desserts.
We tried: 🍛Nasi lemak rendang - 4/5, decent nasi lemak dish, daging rendang was bland but chicken rendang was exquisite & tender. Felt like eating authentic chicken rendang made by a grandma from hometown. 🍔Beef burger - 5/5, the best beef patty I've ever had, wish it could be slightly juicer but it was flavourful nonetheless. *I found a strand of hair under the lettuce, reported to the waiter and they immediately sent it back to the kitchen for a new plate of burger. The supervisor was kind enough to check on us again too. 🍕 Pepperoni pizza - 3/5, generous amount of cheese made the pizza jelak after eating 2 slices. Maybe can tone down on cheese and add...
Read moreTanah Aina Cafe offers a delightful fusion of traditional Malaysian flavors in a cozy, nature-inspired ambiance. I recently tried their Laksa Johor, Briyani Chicken, and Cucur Udang.
The Laksa Johor was a standout, with a rich, flavorful fish-based broth and thick noodles that soaked up all the spices beautifully. The fresh garnishes added a nice crunch, and the overall flavor profile was well-balanced, offering a hearty and comforting bowl of laksa.
The Briyani Chicken was equally impressive, with fragrant, well-spiced rice and tender chicken in a flavorful sauce.
Lastly, the Cucur Udang (prawn fritters) made for a great appetizer. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they were served with a variety of dipping sauces. The fritters were packed with prawn pieces, making them a satisfying and tasty starter.
Overall, Tanah Aina Cafe provides a truly enjoyable dining experience for anyone looking to indulge in authentic...
