Upon entering the store, with the bright and inviting atmosphere and friendly staff welcoming us, this has already set the stage for a memorable meal.
The highlight of the menu, the Ipoh Kai See Hor Fun, is a testament to the chef Danny’s expertise. The silky smooth rice noodles, paired with tender shredded chicken and prawns, are bathed in a delicate, flavorful broth which goes thru hours of hard work to create. Each spoonful is a harmonious blend of subtle yet rich flavors, making it a must-try if you love those “kor char bee” feeling.
The Nonya Laksa Noodles are equally impressive, boasting a rich and aromatic coconut curry that envelopes the noodles. The combination of spices creates a symphony of flavors, perfectly balanced with the creamy texture of the curry. It's a dish that comforts and excites the palate simultaneously. The chef even added some extra Siew Yoke added as an extra ingredient for us which is not part of the standard menu! Talk about service to the max!
Recently, Danny has introduced Claypot Lou Shufen to their menu 📖 as he got feedback that in Kota Kemuning, such food was not available and some has to travel to PJ or KL town just to have it!
Served piping hot, the claypot adds a delightful smokiness to the dish. The lou shufen, or rat tail noodles, have a chewy texture that pairs wonderfully with the savory sauce and assortment of vegetables, minced meat and a drizzle of pork lard chunks makes it a perfect combi. Overall, It's a hearty and satisfying addition that promises to become a crowd favorite! ❤️ - I fell in love with it!
For those who loves variety when it comes to chee cheong fun, Wai Xiu offers an impressive range! Each roll is carefully crafted, with sauces that burst with flavor. Whether you opt for the classic plain, curry style, Penang style or KL style - believe me, you won't be disappointed as I have tried almost all!
In summary, Wai Xiu Northern Cuisine is a gem in Shah Alam, offering an authentic taste of Northern Malaysian dishes. With its standout Ipoh Kai See Hor Fun, delectable Nonya Laksa Noodles, and newly added Claypot Lou Shufen, it’s a place that promises a delightful and satisfying dining experience.
Kudos to Danny...
Read moreI have always been a fan of Hakka mee. Born and raised in Seremban, but currently living in Klang Valley for many years now, I have always missed the famous Seremban Hakka mee that I used to have during my childhood days. There has been a few locations in Klang Valley that serves Hakka mee but nothing comes close to the original fare I had in Seremban.
That's why I was pleasantly surprised when I came upon this eatery right in the heart of Kota Kemuning. I came here midmorning on a weekday and immediately saw the Hakka mee listed in the menu... the photo showed Hakka mee with minced pork (light color, not the dark minced meat that you normally get elsewhere) and my wife and I decided to try it.
The noodles came barely 5 minutes after ordering...and boy!, were we in for a delightful surprise. Superb taste, very very very close to the one we had in Seremban. The texture of the noodle is just right, the sauce made to perfection, and the minced meat...what can i say... you gotta try it to believe it.
That was yesterday, this morning I was here again to have ... you guessed it... the Hakka mee !! My wife tried the Kuay Teow shredded chicken soup ... Taiping style ala Ka Ka Lan Jie... my wife said the sambal is as good as the one served in Lan Jie Taiping. It complemented the Kuay Teow soup so well.
Had a few words with the friendly owners Danny and Karen. They told us that they moved to this current location about 3 months ago, they used to operate from a small stall in Yun Hai Coffee Shop, Kota Kemuning.
Parking here is relatively ok, as there are plenty of spots along the road. I will definitely come back again to try their other fare like their Nyonya Laksa. So glad that we have found this hidden gem in...
Read moreBoss-man Danny decided to further his entrepreneurial spirit by opening a restaurant offering his range of northern cuisine. 3 weeks later, we're here to enjoy his food and hospitality 🤗 Arriving at about 1400 hrs, we realised that we're late for the 1st session opening hours, the next being 1700 - 2000 hrs.
The generous person that he is, he didn't turn us away. Sat down to enjoy nyonya laksa, flavoured by his father's recipe and I could taste the tumeric 😋👍 I'm lucky as he plans to offer nyonya laksa during weekends and public holidays 😆
In the coming weeks and months, he will add to the menu, more unique northern foodie offerings. And there's going to be a rice set coming soon 🥰 He'd better keep his promise as I'll be anticipating my rice dinner...
