Went there last night. Very unpleasant experience. There are four of us, the staff arranged us to sit at a table of six. After we sat down, not even a minute, a table of four at the opposite of the sushi bar is freed, and the staff ask us to move to that table as there is another family who came after us with five pax, so we moved. While we were moving to the other table, another family of three came in and the other staff guide them to the free table that we were supposed to move to. We ended up standing there with no place to sit, and the staff asked two of us to sit at the sushi bar (personal seat), and ask the other two to wait for tables/seats. Ridiculous. We came in first, yet we’re the one that have to wait for the seats. And the part that angers me the most is that the staff don’t even apologise or anything, and ask us to leave if we don’t want to wait. Boycott this shop ever since. I’m impressed with the fact how this shop is surviving till today even with such terrible management...

This was by far my worst experience at a Japanese restaurant. I visited Sushi Zen around 8:55 pm, with plenty of time before closing. Our food arrive quite fast probably around 9:15 pm, yet by 9:30 pm, the staff were already making it very clear they wanted us gone. They began closing one of the shutters with a frustrated attitude, giving us looks that made us feel uncomfortable and rushed. We did our best to finish quickly but felt pressured the entire time (we can’t even enjoy the food at all). The worst thing is, they turned up the music volume significantly even though there were still two tables of customers, including us. Staff were openly chatting loudly, scrolling through TikTok, and giving off the impression that they were done with their work hours while we were still eating. It was incredibly disrespectful and made for an unpleasant dining experience. The service at this location is disappointing, and I would not...

The establishment is dirty and poorly maintained. The ice bucket had mold. The furniture is cheap, old and dirty. Toilet is disgusting and unclean. Mold growing everywhere and the air is very musty. Bad ventilation.

There is no sushi on the belt.

The chicken in the tori katsu don (breaded fried chicken chop) is bad. It barely had breadcrumbs, the cut of chicken tastes weird and is definitely not the thigh. It's a quarter of a chicken chop but pounded to the thickness of paper.

Salmon Zens dragon maki is the tempura prawn salmon roll. The prawn isn't friend with tempura. Rather the prawn was simply coated (badly) with tempura crumbs that were not crispy any more.

The service is slow and we waited long for a few...

Another choice of Japanese food in this neighborhood. Use to be quite decent but behavior of the staffs recently are quite bad. My recent visit, one of their female staff were making some video call with someone probably from his country with max volume. She was talking just right behind our sitting and it was just super annoying and noisy. We turn to look at her a few times and gave her the shhhh sign but she just pretended she didn’t see us. Other than that, the food are usual ok, nothing to shout about. The management seriously need to look into the behavior of their staffs.

Surprised me with their relatively cheap price on meals (not sushi or snacks). Tho the price reflects the portion, as depicted in the image. I had the cold buckwheat soba! Dipping the soba in broth just extensively enhance its flavours! The saltiness of the broth makes the soba extra umami! Tho I wouldn't recommend drinking the broth afterwards as it is rather salty. The portion is just enough for someone who has a small stomach like me. However, you may need 2 or 3 portions to feel adequately full. Really like their dip soba food. Would try matcha soba next!
