On the 30th April 2019, was visit to Big Daddy at 7.00pm for drink and relax. There are 3 pax of us. Two of them order beer from 7pm to 10.30. At 10.30 is last call for Happy Hour beer. So we need to order advance 6mugs beer for Happy Hour price. We sit very long hour day, so at around 11.30 pm one is the staff come to my table and request all the advance beer to be out all for us. We are quite a regular customer at Big Daddy as almost every day visit there and have drink with friends. This is my first time happen to me on this day, suddenly told us that they have licence for beer, means that 11.30 must out all the beer to customer. No more beer to be out after 11.30. So many times have been visited and almost everytime we sit until very late. Only this day come approached us and told us must out all the beer. The Big Daddy boss Mr. Yeoh also told us the same story that licence until 11.30 that's means the beer must be out all to customer. Is that fair for us as we are regular customer there? That mean he are forcing us to drink faster and go off, as may be they wanted to close shop early. So far I have been going so many places such as Uncle Don and Brew House. They even didn't treat the customer like that. The boss also provide very poor services to the customers. Even their food there also not so delicious. Even the fries at there are even worst than MacDonald fries. We have recommended to the boss try to improve on the fries, but he seem not happy with our comment and didn't improve at all. The foods at Big Daddy cannot compare with Uncle Don and Brew House. The food there are unacceptable. Food not nice and not satisfied with the boss services, even the warm or cold water also want to charge. At Brew House and Uncle Don they serve warm and cold water for free. The boss are so calculative so just imagine we as a Customer are we satisfied with this kind of service or not? On this day is my last visit to Big Daddy, will never visit this...
Read moreHonestly kind of mediocre, especially depending on what you order.
On the first time around, I had some nyonya-styled dishes and they were honestly quite okay. I would give a 3.5, maybe 4/5 for those dishes as they were as I had expected as per prior experience with nyonya dishes. But as it pertains to Western dishes, it's rather mixed, depending on what you order.
Second visit around, I came with someone and I had ordered a Salisbury Steak while he ordered a Aglio Olio. The Salisbury Steak was alright, though I would have liked it to be a little bit softer. The Olio however, was not good, being far too oily (to the point where you could see an almost literal pool of oil on the plate itself), with the pasta being rather soggy as a consequence. Was really quite unappetizing.
Service was so-so. They were attentive and willing to serve but they don't seem to have much training, especially when one questioned what "olive oil" was.
The price is fairly cheap (though in a similar realm to rivals such as Uncle Don's and The Brew House) but the restaurant is in a tough spot between the 2 aforementioned rivals, being that they serve similar dishes at similar price points whilst also offering a similar selection of drinks at similar prices.
Given my experience as of far, I feel that the management has to decide exactly what they want to do. Personally, I feel that while their Asian/Nyonya dishes are alright, their Western offerings are less so, even for that...
Read moreThe main attraction of this place is the cheap Carlsberg beer. Other than that, food and service was quite a disappointment. 1 round of beer came with yellow spots and smudges at the rim of the mug, was highlighted to a service staff and was replaced. Another round came with a chipped rim. Got tired of lifting up hands to seek service so took the chipped mug straight to the bar and informed the bartender. He did not apologise but another waiter did. Managed to get the whole mug of beer replaced. As for the food, Daddy's platter and mee goreng mamak were ordered. Took some time for the mee goreng to arrive. Tasted more like mee chilli. Daddy's platter should be called kiddie's platter because it made up of french fries, cocktail sausages, chicken nuggets, onion rings and coleslaw. Even with several other issues highlighted to the service staff, no management staff came forward to say anything. Perhaps because we were first...
