One City, another venue that was once a lively place, has suffered much of the same fate as many other places from the impact of MCO. What is left today is pretty much a shell of its former glory. A small number of eateries still operate within the premises, with very few patrons in them.
Having planned for a dinner here on a Thursday night, I've decided to try Khrua Thai @ The Sky. The restaurant has both an indoor and outdoor areas, with the outdoor area offers a great view over the cityscape. We had originally chosen the outdoor seating for its amazing view, since there was heavy rain in the evening, and the air was cool and comfortable. However, we decided to move to the indoor area after we were swarmed by some hungry mosquitoes.
For food, we chose the common Thai cuisine, the Seafood Tom Yum. The seafood were just prawns and squid. The squid was okay, but the prawn didn't feel fresh as the meat is a little mushy and they stuck to the shells. The soup was thick, flavourful and a little salty. We were quite thirsty after the meal and we believe it was due to the soup. Overall, I thought it was average.
We also ordered Salted Egg Squid. It was okay. The squid was nicely cooked, but the salted egg was not as fragrant as some that we had tasted recently, and we think that they can put a little more of them.
For vege, we decided to go with Paku Pakis Salad. It was a salad with a mixture of Paku Pakis and various other vege and herbs, as well as some prawns and squid. It had a taste that's a combination of sweet and sour, with a hint of spiciness from the chilli. This was very enjoyable.
On drinks, we ordered Mango Smoothie and Coconut Milkshake. Mango Smoothie was too sweet for my taste, but Coconut Milkshake was quite good, in which I could taste a strong flavor of coconut milk, as well as bits and pieces of coconut flesh in the drink.
Overall, the food that we tried was average for my taste. It was a shame that we couldn't enjoy the outdoor dining area. The price was on the higher side, which was not unexpected, but I expected more...
Read moreThis restaurant offers a very good Thai dining experience, with food that is both flavorful and well-presented. The menu has a nice balance of popular classics and a few specialty items, and the dishes we tried were prepared with care. The Pad Thai had a fresh, balanced flavor without being overly sweet, and the green curry delivered just the right amount of spice with a rich, aromatic sauce. Portion sizes were generous, making it good value for the price.
The staff were welcoming and attentive, although service did feel a little slower once the restaurant filled up. It wasnât a major issue, but itâs something that could be improved to make the dining experience smoother. The atmosphere is pleasantâwarm and inviting without being overly elaborateâbut a few small touches in dĂ©cor and ambiance could elevate it to a truly memorable setting.
Overall, this is a strong choice if youâre looking for authentic Thai food in the area. It earns a solid four stars: the food is very good and the service is friendly, but thereâs still a little room for refinement before it reaches the level of an exceptional,...
Read moreDespite being located at the top of a (somewhat) dead mall, it still attracts a sizeable crowd during lunch time.
This place accommodates huge crowds with both indoor and outdoor seatings. Interior is minimal and bright. Have lunch sets for singles starting from 6 diners. Below are my takes on the food and drink.
Lemon tea, regardless hot or cold tasted too sweet and seemed to be mixed with some weird fruity concoction. Totally horrible. Avoid it!
The dishes above tasted great and well-marinated, with the tangy tom yum soup and large shrimps/ prawns. Sadly, the fish, while large in size tasted too fishy; the sauces weren't able to mask the fishiness (no pun intended).
The tham tim krob (shaved ice + coconut milk + red ruby + jackfruit strips) wasn't too overwhelming; great complement to a hearty meal.
Overall a pleasant dining experience. Just avoid the...
