Popped in to this outlet on a hot afternoon, at the suggestion of a friend. Located on the lower ground floor of Main Place, it's quite a small outlet and seating is spilled out to the walkway of the mall in order to accommodate the diners.
While it was was past lunch time, the place was quite packed with people not only having cendol, but also eating the dishes there as well, which was a good sign.
Looking at the menu, the choices are quite varied. My intention was to have the cendol, I decided to go for the one with the premium gula Melaka, which added only 50 sen to the cost. I also added a yam cake and a kaya toast to munch on. My friend had their wanton noodles, which was nothing really special.
The cendol here is good, rich in coconut milk with a good balance of sweetness from the aromatic gula Melaka. However, I am probably not used to it and found the cendol noodles to be a tad too thick for my liking. Still, it was a good bowl of a local dessert.
The yam cake was not bad, a little hard on the edges but otherwise passable. The toast with butter and kaya came a little too dark at one end of the bread and was bitter, but it was still OK.
Prices here are super reasonable, and it's probably one of the reasons why the place was so full. I noticed quite a few of the diners were also having different dishes here, and I'll probably do that when I visit the outlet...
Read moreI have always been to this cafe until today changes all. We were asked to pay right away before even getting our food served! I understand it was at 9.10pm when we ordered but the waiter present the bil right away and asked us to pay. Not to make a big deal out of it but why does other customers who are still eating, have not paid yet? When I asked, the reason was he didn’t want to interrupt our dinner but the customers besides us was still eating when they present the bil to them? This is racist and discrimination. Like as if we cannot afford? If not, then it looks like they are chasing us away so that they can finish their job and go home early. I’ve worked for F&B for more than 15years, I have not encounter such inconsiderate attitude. Anyways, the food is fine but services is a red...
Read moreA popular place for lunch. It was packed when we got there for lunch today. Food variety and taste is just average, nothing special. However, the star main attraction of the restaurant is its cendol. You may want to make your way there just for the cendol. Even though I have esten here before, I just discovered there are two varieties of cendol - the regular one and the special one with gula melaka. The price difference is just a few sen, almost negligible, but tastes a world different! So I will never again settle for a regular cendol! It's going to be cendol gula melaka all the way from now on. Perhaps one way to overcome the lackluster food menu is to have your meal elsewhere and come here for their...
