My recent visit to Marutama Ramen offered a peaceful and pleasant dining experience. While I personally am not a die-hard ramen enthusiast, I can certainly appreciate the quality of the food. The ramen was undeniably delicious, with a rich and flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles.
The staff were consistently attentive and friendly, ensuring that my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. The restaurant itself boasted a nice and comfortable ambiance, creating a relaxing atmosphere for a meal. Notably, the restaurant was very quiet, which allowed for a more intimate and tranquil dining experience.

Tucked away like a well-kept secret inside NU Empire Mall, Marutama Ramen is an absolute gem for anyone craving an authentic Japanese culinary hug in a bowl.
From the very first sip of the chicken broth, it’s clear this isn’t your average ramen joint. The depth of flavour is superb – rich, comforting, and clearly crafted with care. The handmade ramen noodles have that perfect bite, the seaweed adds a lovely umami whisper, and the chicken char siu is tender and flavourful, as if personally selected by a very discerning Japanese grandmother.
Prices? Reasonable enough that you’ll consider a second bowl – or at the very least, an extra topping or two. And the service? Utterly delightful. Warm, efficient, and attentive without hovering – the kind that makes you feel looked after without feeling looked over.
It may be slightly hidden in NU Empire Mall, but believe me, it’s worth the treasure hunt. A place where detail meets delicious, and you leave planning your next visit before the bill...

Call me a purist if you must but I believe that some things should be left unchanged. But I suppose it was done to be certified halal so that Muslims can patronise the restaurant too. I however appreciated the staff and the service. The ramen arrived quickly but steaming hot. There was always a staff at hand to refill your cup of tea. They were very pleasant, polite and efficient. I will definitely go again if I can get pass the chicken char siew issue. Totally disliked the chicken. Overall was a very...
