This has turned into an ala carte menu sushi bar concept (it's no longer an omakase restaurant) - and is now located on the first floor, literally at the entrance of the Siam Oasis spa (no longer hidden in the car park). Reasonable prices, fresh sushi, wide selection, can see myself going back regularly for a quick, fuss-free meal. Fully counter seating only. Review below is old - from when this was still an omakase restaurant before.
Apart from the Omakase menus that start from RM288++ onwards, the restaurant now has a few set menus starting from RM138++ upwards in a "semi-Omakase" format where seasonal appetisers and sashimi starter are prepared and served Omakase style by the chef, with the remaining items served in a Japanese set menu arrangement on a platter/bento of sorts. I think the set menus are a good way to dip a toe into experiencing the food and service at TEN without the full Omakase price tag.
We went for the grilled Saba and wagyu beef patty set menus, and were happy with our lunch. Food taste, presentation and quality are definitely excellent, and the variety was also good, delivering decent value for money. The service was also very nice and accomodating - nothing was too much trouble for the server. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend it asked. At this price point however - even with the lower priced set menus - I think it would be hard to see many regulars or seats filled up unless there are more affordable weekday/business lunch sets introduced. We went for lunch on a Sunday and were the only diners in the entire restaurant.
Minor comment: We would have loved to order an alcoholic drink like a plum wine or sake to go with our meal, but no drink menu was presented and we were only asked if we wanted hot or cold green tea, so I'm not sure if other drink options are sold/available here.
You can only enter the restaurant from the car park of Nu Empire as there is no entry to the restaurant from within the main shopping mall itself. When inside the shopping mall basement level, walk through the corridor between Nam Pho and Old Town restaurants towards the car park, then turn left to find the entrance of TEN Omakase. Alternatively exit the shopping mall between Coffee Bean and Lavander bakery, then turn right - walking towards/into the car park- to find...
Read moreMy husband brought me for omakase to celebration my birthday. Very disappointed. The food is not fresh. The colour of the fish is changed. The chef is not professional. Do not give a lots of explanation of all the dishes been serve. He not only serve us, he has to serve other a la cart guest. The arrangement of menu is not good. They had serve 3 courses with sea urchin. They do not have any other dishes to serve? 1st dish serve conch with very strong flavour and is not fresh enough. I don’t think this should be arrange as a 1st dish. My husband worked as a chef for over 35 years. He is very sensitive with the freshness and taste with the food. The service was poor as well. They were only gave the service at the beginning. When few more a la cart guests, they cannot handle it. They not even top up our tea before the last 3 courses. They do not even explain the dessert, they just only serve and leave. We been many places for omakase, this was the worst experience we had. We understood that omakase is meant that we leave the order to the chef however the food arrangement was dissatisfied and disappointed. To be honest, we booked the omakase, we are expecting a different food service from chef and service waiter. Perhaps have some surprised from chef. Unfortunately in this case, we feel like had a normal a la cart menu. Why we spent more money for omakase to have the same experience like a la cart menu? We dine in so many places over the world, this is the first time i give a bad review. I do not mention this in the restaurant due i do not want to ruin my birthday celebration. Also no one approached to us and check how was the night for the whole evening. This is really unacceptable. Please tell me what else i can expert for the experience of omakase menu. From my point, this restaurant not qualified to serve...
Read more3 stars given, because of the following :
Fish are fresh, but combinations of fish and some condiments do not not match well, and not outstanding enough, example the first appetizer (chestnut with tomato and jelly) is too sour (though the chef has warned us about it), it is really very sour for the first appetizer, next is the cold dish, tastes like carrot cake texture, this combination does not match well, other fish nigiris and sashimi are fresh, thumbs for the fresh uni, but other combination not outstanding enough.
Service is warm hospitality, and all the remarks of allergies and birthday celebration are well taken note of, but lack of training / experience, for example the chef and the waitress did not explain well about the dish first before start serving, we have to ask “what is this fish”, the sake cup was not chosen by the clients first before serving. No Japanese chef.
The environment is quite smoky with kitchen smell of cooking, maybe because it is located at the parking area, therefore the ventilation was not good.
Overall, the experience was ok, looking forward to their improvement for...
