Lets talk about their service first. Cause their staff is master of Tai Chi.
šØš»āš³SERVICE (30mins) - Tai Chi levelš¬: Their service is very very poor. We placed our order at 1:25 pm. Soon a table of 3 and a table of 5 came in to sit down and place their orders.
At 1:48pm, the table of 3 and table of 5 got their orders but not mine. I questioned the staff, "Why ours took so long?" only to be told that the table of 5 was given priority because they are larger group.... We asked the staff to explain the table of 3. Since they have the same order as us. The staff replied that we came after them..... What?!?!?!?
We told the staffs. Hey... Please. Check the time we placed our order. We were way earlier than them. And once again the staff came out another excuse of, "we cooking new crispy pork, so yours late".
The amount of Tai Chi from the staff is insane. Honestly they should be Tai Chi master instead of being a server. They really know how to deflect problems and give excuses. Few mins later. They served food to another table that came in and sat down not long ago. This frustrates us even more.
We got our orders at 1:54pm and they admitted their mistake. The order was mistakenly placed under a plate, and the kitchen staffs did not see it. Well... what a surprised am i right?
We complained to the boss, and the boss gave us a complimentary crispy pork and a very very dry 100% lean meat charsiew as an apology.
šFood: The Noodle texture is unique. But the sauce is rather bland. Noodle portion was huge for a small portion. Other than that, nothing special. The charsiew is dry if is not eaten together with the fats.
š« Overall: Just eat once and done. Dont need to come back. I came back cause my dad loves this shop for some reason. Its still the same old taste, and never changed (tbh im really unsure if not changing the recipe is good/bad, but i guess it reminds ppl of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAn unassuming coffee shop style eatery, in fact it is, constantly pulling in groups and groups of students, I also noticed some office staff. Prompt service, akin on roller blades, one piece laminated menu popped up, we quickly ordered. Nothing possibly to ponder over and over again, its between the limited, maybe 6 to 7 types of noodles and toppings. Food and drinks arrived in a jiffy, lets say before the next 5 minutes. I firstly helped myself to the vibrant chilli dip and pickled chilli, thereafter tucked into curry chicken noodle.
Not bad. Fared quite right. Al dente noodles, some green veggie and atop with, basically, chicken cooked in curry. Noodles must be hailed, curry wasn't the best among the rest, when eaten with the chilli dip, it absolutely kicked in my love of spiciness. Deep fried pork noodle, accompanied alongside two small servings of clear soup, I guess one of it is for me, my lunch companion forked into was not a letdown either. He didn't like praise, as usual, the general standard comment you get from men is ''okay", which by far must be interpreted as acceptable.
Washed down with barley ice while we tucked in and as we caught up with each other, we didn't want to stay put any longer. More people walked in and stood around waiting for a table, the swinging fans too didn't do much justice to the hot blistering weather. Oh, stop looking at the walls, unless by now a fresh coat of paint...
Read moreThe noodle texture is so good, it's the only few places worth ordering big for the carbs 𤣠Very nice bite feel, rarely will come across any noodles like this. Usually handmade wantan mee has a more crisp type of bouncy bite feel but Uncle Seng's is more chewy type of bouncy. However sometimes the texture is not so consistent. Still considerably good.
This feels more like a hakka mee place than a wantan mee place (nonetheless, it is still very good) because of the thickness of the noodles as well as the sauce. Despite having a pale colouration, the sauce is flavourful enough. I prefer it without the chilli sauce but the chilli is not bad. Just that I don't really find that it adds a lot to the taste unless you use a lot. The chilli leans a bit more towards the sweet side.
The other items served with the noodles are averagely good but honestly, the noodles alone are enough reason to visit if you enjoy noodle textures. I do quite enjoy the wantan. Very silky skin and the filling is tasty. Fried pork has a nice cooking wine taste to it but both the char siew and fried pork are relatively lean and mildly tough.
The kopi and cham here are brewed well.
Parking is very bad in SS15 but especially bad on this row. It's almost certain to say that you won't even be able to find a double parking spot here š¤£
