Honestly, it was overhyped. Service was slow. The food was just fine, basic-nothing special.
The waiter/hostess was slow to come to the table to take the order. It was not even busy but have to wait for 10-15mins for the waiter to come to take our order.
The floor service(waiter/waitress) was slow to clear up the table. We were eating a group of 6 and everyone ordered 3 meals per person, but when we finished some of our meals there was no waiter/waitress offered or made the effort to pick up the stacks of empty plates on our tables. They’re not even busy but instead, they’re soo free that they were able to chat&hang with each other at the drink bar/cashier counter. So we ended up having to eat the rest of our meals in a limited space due to the uncollected empty plates stacked on our table.
The food is overpriced and overhyped- tastes just fine, not that super yummy or extra delicious. We thought that with the overhyped review, the food must be impressive. Turns out we were wrong. Garlic bread and the mantao were so basic. Salted egg buttercream tasted like sweet sugar cream with only a bit of salted egg taste (Gold Chilli or Two Sons salted egg tasted much better). Carbonara is also very basic for the price they charged. The salted buttercream chicken chop pasta also tasted just okay to eat-nothing special. Nasi lemak and lasagna were just okay. The salted egg croissant was not even worth it to order. The hot chili clamp was good but sadly the clamp has a lil bit of rancid and sour taste. The same goes for the crab - I guess the kitchen crew doesn't wash/prep it well.
The only thing that we liked is the interior and the uniqueness of the halal non-halal drinks concept(halal soda drinks served in a concept of liquor cocktails) it felt like we were dining at a halal speakeasy bar lounge. But other than that, it is overhyped and overrated. I think it is all because of the interior and the speakeasy bar lounge concept.
Honestly, I think it needs some additional improvement. So, it can really be celebrated as a great quality restaurant that...
Read moreFood Did not meet expectations. It’s decent, but not worth the hype. We ordered: • 2x Butter Chicken Single Sets • 1x Kayangan Set • 1x Combo Set
The batter on the chicken? Soggy. Definitely a letdown. But credit where it’s due — the prawn in the Combo Set was really good. Fresh, sweet, cooked just right.
We also ordered two sets of chicken skin: One spicy (came with the Kayangan Set) One “Classic with Tom Yam flavor”
Here’s the problem: I informed the waiter that the Tom Yam flavour wasn’t right. Still, they confidently insisted it was correct. But there was no Tom Yam taste at all. I didn’t want to make a scene during dinner, so I just ate it.
Drinks: The Iced Chocolate was excellent. Creamy, rich — a solid 5/5.
Service: 3/5 Credit to the Malay lady with glasses who eventually asked what was wrong — that’s the kind of service that should’ve happened earlier. As for the guy who served us, he seemed clueless about the menu. Not helpful at all. Waiting time? Can’t really comment. Lost track of time.
Also, the lady in a skirt who asked us to leave a review — timing matters. Customers should be asked for feedback after they’re done, ideally after payment. Not during customers in the middle of conversation.
Atmosphere Some people enjoy dim settings and some dont. The lighting was way too dark to enjoy the food properly. The music playlist didn’t match the vibe — though thankfully no JJ/remix club-style tracks. Consider adding a brighter section for customers who prefer better lighting.
Toilet Unisex, two big cubicles. It was clean, but stuffy. No noticeable ventilation — maybe there’s an exhaust fan but i didnt notice it.
I know the owner usually replies to reviews, so here’s my message:
No, I don’t want a refund. We ate, and we paid. This review is not for sympathy. We may be not always right but we do...
Read moreTLDR; Form over substance, Jibril's great dining atmosphere hampered by its below par food and disappointing service makes its 4.7 star rating feels like false advertising.
Long review: ⭐ Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
Honestly, Jibril SS15 is all hype and no substance. The food was a complete letdown. The pineapple fried rice was so mushy and foul-tasting it felt like eating leftovers gone bad — even my elderly dad couldn’t eat it. The butter chicken chop pasta was disgustingly sweet, the chicken was bland and tasted like it had been sitting around for days. The chicken slice pasta was so bad we didn’t even bother finishing it.
The nasi lemak sambal was the only decent thing, but the chicken that came with it had that same strange, off-putting taste. The surf and turf was another disaster — tasteless fries and chicken with zero flavour. For a place that tries to sound “premium,” this was shockingly poor.
The place might look “cool” for dates, but it’s definitely not worth the discomfort. It’s cramped, noisy, and you’ll probably bump into the next table every few minutes. Not exactly the romantic speakeasy vibe they’re selling.
Service wasn’t much better — our server didn’t even know the name of the drink he brought and had to run back to the kitchen to check. For a restaurant that prides itself on “class,” that was embarrassing to watch.
Like one reviewer said perfectly: 3/10 for food, 8/10 for atmosphere. That’s being generous. If you actually care about taste or hygiene, skip this place. There are way better options in SS15 that don’t pretend to be something they’re not.
Spent rm250 for a below par...
