FOOD VERDICT

  1. Red Tomyam (Small) with White Rice • Taste so good. Not very spicy but still had a flavorful and rich aroma. The dish is served in claypot bowl complete with its lid. Don't let "small" in the name fool you because the portion can put many full-size Tomyam dishes out there to shame. The amount of ingredients is jam-packed. Got 3 pieces of sizeable prawns in my meal. All the ingredients are fresh and of good quality. • The white rice is well-cooked, quite warm when arrives and is nicely scooped in heart shape, well almost. Hey, it's the effort that counts 😊

  2. Signature Green Tea • Quite thick mocha flavour but personally I really dig it. Not very bitter with a nice sweet kick but can be a bit too dense for some. Although it gets lighter as the ice cubes melt down.

  3. Pandan Chicken (takeaway) • A total of 5 decently sized boneless chickens served with Thai-styled chilli sauce. The aromatic pandan is slightly lesser than I expected but still tastes delicious. The meat is juicy and well-cooked.

THE GOOD : • Very delicious meal and the portion is highly satisfying • The staffs are friendly and my order gets delivered fairly quickly • Clean place with chic interior decor • Very close to LRT SS15 metro station • Payment can be made with cash, card or e-wallet (got dedicated Grab QR) • Online food delivery is available via Grab Food • Toilet is available in the restaurant

THE NOT-SO-GOOD: • The menu price is on the higher-end side (some dishes can get quite pricey) • There's an extra service charge on top of the total price (shown in the receipt) • Weak internet coverage in the restaurant (at least for...

I came here to try the food. Overall, the food is so-so. Not as flavorful as other Thai food restaurants.

We ordered the Combo Meal for 2 people (RM49) which gives us two plates of rice, one bowl of green curry chicken, stir fried kangkung, and thai fish cake. All of them are average-tasting. I find the green curry a bit underwhelming with no strong flavor. The kangkung was also a bit on the sweeter side (which i prefer more salty) and the thai fish cake has no distinguishable taste to it (Looking back I'd never thought it was fish cake).

We also ordered one Thai Green Tea (RM7) and Thai Coffee (RM7). The portion for these drinks are quite big, so I'd say it was worth the price. The coffee taste is not as strong as I'd hoped for, and the same goes for the Thai Green Tea.

There was a big family dining near us so it was not that quiet, but the atmosphere was okay. The service is good enough but nothing exceptional. There was no cili potong/chilli flakes condiments on our table so I had to request it. The cili potong gave the food the flavor it needs.

Overall an average experience. In a sea of choices of much better Thai foods out there, I would probably not be going back...

Congrats that your food quality is going down the drain. Please consider this review seriously and close down for good. I'm referring to SS15 outlet, today 17 May, 1:00pm, 3 sets lunch promo with total of RM62. Lousy food that's not worth a ringgit at all.

The tomyam is nothing but sour. Tomyam is suppose to have a mix flavours ; sweet, spicy, sour, salty. My own stir fried basil chicken with egg and rice was damn spicy and tasteless. Another two pineapple fried rice was sweet. Who on earth in Thailand taught your chef that pineapple fried rice has to be sweet?? The chicken and basil was just a spoon big after you remove all the long beans cut.

To get rid of the horrible taste, we requested for chilli with soy sauce, adding a bit flavour. Sambal belacan to balance the sweetness. Might as well we go to the kitchen and cook it ourselves. We have been loyal to your business for years (our office is here too) but not anymore. Years back, we faced the late issue when your outlet prioritise online ordering and left us waiting for hour. We stopped coming in. Today we came for another chance but it's all ruined. What we enjoyed?...

Came here for an early dinner. Many tables still available at 5.00pm+. However the crowd started coming in around 6.00pm. Tried their tom yam glass noodles, seafood otak otak, and red rubies for dessert (plus a watrrmelon juice). The tom yam was flavourful, rich and thick. Only comment is that perhaps the hard bits of serai and leaves could be removed before serving to give a more pleasant eating experience. The otak otak was also rich and tasty. Not much seafood in it though. It was served in a coconut shell and at the bottom, it was surprisingly lined with lots of slices of coconut flesh. The red rubies could not be faulted - the santan was lemak and the flavour was just nice, balanced with the red rubies chestnut pieces and pieces of jackfruit. An enjoyable experience consuming it. Only comment: I had asked the waiter to bring the dessert out after I had finished my meal, but it was brought out whilst I was still at it with my tom yam. Perhaps it would be best to order the dessert only after finishing the mains. Worth coming back to try the other dishes.

If you're craving an authentic Thai feast in Subang Jaya, Soi 55 Thai Kitchen in SS15 is a must-visit! The cozy ambiance and friendly service make it a great spot for a casual meal, though be prepared for slightly higher prices. I tried the Pineapple Fried Rice, which was fragrant and well-seasoned, with juicy pineapple chunks, cashews, and a hint of curry powder. The flavors were great, but for the price, the portion could have been more generous. The Tom Yum Soup was packed with fresh seafood and had the perfect balance of spicy and sour flavors. It was definitely a highlight of the meal, but again, it felt a bit pricey for a simple dish. For drinks, I had a Honey Lemon, which was refreshing, and they also offer a variety of soda drinks to cool down after the heat from the Tom Yum. Overall, while the food at Soi 55 Thai Kitchen is delicious and authentic, the prices are on the higher side for basic Thai dishes. If you don’t mind spending a little extra for quality flavors, it’s still worth a visit.
