Royal Siam — Restaurant in Subang Jaya

Delightful simple diner that serves original Thai dishes. The menu may look uninspiring and ordinary but what they do, they largely excel in. The portions of dishes are not big but that is reasonable given the prices. The 5 of us ordered 9 dishes!

The excellent: clear tom yum soup - very original and uncompromisingly Thai: hot, sour, flavourful belachan fried rice - comes with all the requisite condiments. Great value the humble mango salad with perfect dressing moo ping - lightly charred and moist pandan chicken - moist, beautifully marinated, with crispy edges

The good: crispy sea bass - nicely fried but could have done with more of the dressing Pad Thai - decent, nice texture

The missable: steamed squid - nice sauce (not enough though) but squid was tough Thai fish cakes - lacking in both texture and taste

This joint has only been around for 4 months and is already doing great business - testament to the quality...

We were a large group of 15 people with a mix of elderly and children. It is hard to taste the taste of the food as it was 200% ruined by the steam fish dish.. it came in a steamer, over the fire thing and once set on the table and fire on, the baby roaches came running out of it!! All over our dining table with cutlery, drinks and everything on it. There were at least 10 of the baby roaches running around our table. It was disgusting, what's worse was when it was happening, after it had happened, there were no waiters in the restaurant that came to help us to clean up the roaches, apologised, remove the disgusting tableware, NOTHING AT ALL. We were left to fend for ourselves, clean up, wipe up. It was a terrible experience to be honest. The whole management was a mess. There's zero...

This restaurant is run by Thai people, but unfortunately their service is very poor. I ordered the Red Tom Yum Seafood Noodle, but they got my order wrong three times. When they brought me Clear Tom Yum Pork Noodle, I've informed them that the food served was incorrect. However, after 10min in the kitchen, instead of cooking a new bowl for me, they just came back with Tom Yum paste added to the soup, with pork still inside. So I again informed them that I ordered Seafood, not Pork Noodle, and again, they just add seafood to the dish, and turn it into seafood&pork noodle(I do not eat pork). At this point I'm very hungry and running late so I can't be bothered to send it back to kitchen again. Needless to say, the taste is terrible. Won't ever...
