Comfortable, clean and good Yong Taufu at ss18 Subang Jaya.
Self service to pick your yong taufu onto baskets at the back of the restaurant. The fist paste will be added/inserted "after" you pick your items eg ladies fingers or taufupok etc. So it's fresh. Green veges also fresh. Then you're given a "number" and wait for food to be served.
They also serve a variety of noodles eg panmi, loushufan, horfun, mee/meehoon; and chee cheong fan.
Enjoyed it. As with any yong taufu restaurant, can add up in terms of cost per head but worth the fresh taste and prompt service.
I paid RM20.50 (solo) for 1 pc chee cheong fun (CCF) and a mixture of the following popular yongtaufu (didn't order drinks):- 1 meat ball 1 taufupok 2 fuchok skin 1 ladies finger 1 pouch looking fuchok (not so good) 1 serving Spinach (generous portion) 1white taufu
The soup is quite delicious, and the sweet/chilli sauces are good. I like the CCF too.
Oh yes, parking can be difficult so come early cos there are many restaurants on this row of shophouse opposite the ss17 Balai Polis, as well as GoFresh supermarket is nearby. So parking is a bit challenging during meal hours.
They accept e-wallet payments.
Happy to note they're open throughout CNY 2023 even or Chor Yat (1st day). They close on 21st...
Read moreDefinitely a good place for Yong tau Fu and Chee Cheong fun. Self service to pick your own Yong Tau Fu, price is listed at the wall clearly. Staff will recommend either to soup the Yong tau Fu or fried it. Fried Yong Tau Fu is crispy. Rice, Chee Cheong Fu and even noodles are available for carbs option. The Yong Tau Fu is ok, soup is ok and coop well, generous with Veges if you add-on. Really love their Chee Cheong Fun, as it is thick cut, and they also have curry as sauce, would recommend it. Sweet sauce and spicy sauce are available on each table. However Im gonna give a thumb up on their blended garlic chillies sauce which is also available on each table, absolutely delicious with right enough of sweetness and not overly spicy. (I have a soft spot for sweet chillies sauce 🤣) Not sure they provide pickles chillies or not, don't think they do. Person in charge is attentive and friendly. Parking can be a slight pain as there are few well known restaurant around, might need to...
Read moreThe main issue is that getting foreigners to run the kitchen and prepare supposedly chinese yong tau foo dish for you. At least the owner son should mann the kitchen to show that there is a local running the kitchen rather than sitting at the cashier counter. But then again, you dont see a chinese guy cooking myanmar dish in Yangon, do you?
Meat are not stuffed in taufu or lady finger, chilli. Actual yong tau foo is stuffed in, and meat hardly come out when cook or when eating them. Too much pepper and msg in the soup. I doubt vegetable were wash properly before being cooked. This is where skill or passion to cook is lacking. A myanmarese just cant make/cook yong tau foo, period. And I havent comment other dishes yet.
Unfortunately, this will be my first and last visit to this shop until they are able to improve the food quality but looking into this situation, I dont...
