Manhattan Fish Market- Horrible, 0/10, if I could give it a negative I would.

It was not always like this, I remember when I was way younger, maybe a few years ago, one of my favourite places to eat fish at was Manhattan Fish Market, it was the THING when it first launched in Malaysia.

Every time I went there, I would always order the small flame, it was seriously good, the fish was succulent, prawns were huge and fresh, rice was buttery and soft, and the Fries (FRENCH FRIES) were super good. So many good memories made with Manhattan Fish Market at those times. SOOO, I decided to order it for my dinner thru GRAB, I ordered one Small Flame and Feisty Arabic Ikan Bakar (which is meant to be a promotional item for this Ramadan) (never ate before), I was super excited about it and I was really looking forward to receiving my meal.

After about an hour I received my meal, was a tad bit late but its fine, 'THE FOOD IS HERE', I hurriedly rushed to the dining table, eagerly tearing through the plastic bag and I got to say, their packaging is FANCY, solid boxes to pack those fishes, got to give it to them.

So, I opened the first box which contains the small flame, I got a tad bit disappointed when I saw the fries was replaced with some super thin potato crisps, which looks super oily (saving cost maybe?), the prawns got smaller, and the fish was looking super dry, but you cannot judge a book by its cover right? So, I placed it a side and opened the other box. AND DAMN, IT STINKS, there is a super strong fishy smell, I know its fish, but it should not smell like this, it was not FRESH, but once again you cannot judge a book by its cover, right?

So, I was like ok never mind, let us start off with the small flame, one of my favourites with a lot of memories bonded to it. After digging in, with every bite it just gets more disappointing, the fish is dry AF, rice hard AF, prawns small AF, everything was disappointing AF, but still managed to finish it as it is acceptable and would not want to waste food, but honestly compared to long time ago when it first started, I would give it a 2/10.

You might be wondering ‘why is it a 2/10 when he gave a 0/10 in the beginning’ right? Well here comes the Feisty Arabic Ikan Bakar, even though I knew it was not fresh, I was still willing to give it a try a try, scooped up some of their so called homemade sambal, and oh my REPULSIVE, went directly for the fish next and let me tell you, it was SLIMY and the skin of the fish looked like it was NOT COOKED at all, placed the spoon full of fish in my mouth and instantly regretted the decision, spat it out directly, DISGUSTING was the only word to describe that dish.

Manhattan Has officially spoilt the dinner mood, that would be the last time I ever ordered or even step into Manhattan...

I ate here a year ago and had a really pleasant experience and was hoping for a similar time, but boy was I disappointed.

They have adopted a new digital ordering system which was probably never reviewed by a UI/UX person. The whole online menu was unintuitive, cluttered, and a royal pain. The order is linked to a permanent table QR code which meant only 1 person can order for the entire table, essentially off loading the job of a waiter on a customer. I went in a group of 8, and just ordering took 15mins.

Staff were rather confused and not very helpful. Even taking into consideration that they were short staffed it doesn't excuse poor table service. When ordering their Fish n Chips, everyone is supposed to receive an individual paper and the fish and fries placed orderly on it. The waiter here took 2 pieces of paper, layed it in the middle of the table and dumped all the fish and fries in a big heap in the middle, and didn't even bother to explain which batter was which. Even forgot to give us the sauces.

Fish was subpar and overfried. The spicy batter was on the hard side when it was supposed to be crispy.

Admittedly the staff may not yet be used to big dine in groups in a post MCO nation, but I feel alot could be resolved with some effort and training. A simple apology for messing up the serving method would have gone a long way.

Will I still eat here? Yes, because I believe in the human ability to improve, but not till they...

My husband and I wanted a light dinner with some soup. We hadn't been to this place on ages so we decided to try . We were utterly disappointed with the service service. We wanted the menu but only saw a scanner at the table we sat. Service was bad and we saw no staff around. O ly one waiter was busy attending to guests at further end of the room. All our attempts to get attention of him and the lady at cashier was futile. Finally we managed to see a lady coming in our direction who took a menu card behind the entrance directory n handed to us. I asked her for plain water. She said dnt have . Mineral water only. My husband asked for coffee..she said dnt have. I asked for lemonade. Dnt have finished she said. We opted to share peach tea. We asked for soup and fish and chips. Wen I asked if could exchange chips for mashed potatoes . She replied not possible so I ordered separately. The mash potatoes never arrived. When the food arrived it was not hot and crisp as expected more soft and mushy. All said done we finished our meal and proceeded to pay. Gave my debit card she keyed in as credit card and said system slow. I gave her credit card and settled payment. Mentioned they left out an item we ordered. She noted but didnt seem to care the outlet staff had missed it. The rate they operate I wouldn't be surprised if...

Promotion looks amazing until....the dishes arrive and you realize why it's so cheap. The amount is very small. It's ok if you are a small eater and if you want a comfortable quiet place to sit down in Subang Parade after lunch hours. Promo Monday to Friday 11-6pm for certain dishes. Fish and chips RM16.90 Alaskan pollack was as big as a hand and lots of crunchy batter. It was nice, but very oily and tiny. Sauce was nice, but so little not enough to dip the fish and all the fries. RM3.90 add on Mushroom soup ..was tiny. But 100x better than the one in Pizza Hut. RM9.90 alio oglio, small amount 🤏 Also 100 x better than the pizza hut one. Al dente, crunchy peppers, salty enough, lots of oil, but at least tasty. Their drinks are expensive, starting RM8.90 ? Cheapest is a bottle of Mineral water for RM3.50? They serve with glasses and ice if you require. The local Malaysian waiter was very nice, tq.

Had our dinner there. The waiters were giving out chips(taster) new in the menu. We were greeted and we sat opposite the drink counter. They gave us option to get a mocktail for free with downloading an apps(can't remember what but it's on each table) we tried the watermelon mocktail/refreshing... All of the waitresses were friendly. We ordered 4 different things from the menu.. Now there actually have a counter(small island) for tartar sauce/fish n chips.. I think there were 6 choices of tartar sauce from original to curry and spicy.. By 1930 the place starts to see customers coming in and few of the delivery guys collecting food for the(panda/grab not sure which... 😊) Plenty of choices to choose from.no complaints on the freshness/food/drinks and services.
