I was very luck to visit Malé, Maldives again and could not miss dinner at Sala Thai.

I recently had the pleasure of revisiting Sala Thai Restaurant, and I can confidently say it was an extraordinary dining experience. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was transported to a world of beauty, charm, and pure culinary delight. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nothing short of amazing, with its stunning decor and attention to detail. It truly felt like stepping into a different planet altogether.

The crew and owner of Sala Thai deserve special commendation for their outstanding hospitality. From the moment I entered, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine desire to make my dining experience memorable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to offer assistance or answer any questions I had.

When it came time to order, I found myself torn between the various mouthwatering options on the menu. Sensing my confusion, I turned to my waiter for a recommendation. I must say, I did not regret trusting his expertise. The dish he suggested was a perfect blend of flavors and textures, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. It was evident that the staff at Sala Thai takes great pride in their menu and their ability to guide guests towards an unforgettable culinary journey.

What truly sets Sala Thai apart is its ability to transport you to a place far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The ambiance, the soothing music, and the enchanting lighting all worked together to create an atmosphere of tranquility and bliss. I cannot recommend Sala Thai Restaurant enough for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Thai cuisine or simply looking for a place that will transport you to a different world, this restaurant is an absolute gem. Unfortunately, it was a very unpleasant experience.

We booked a night of their hotel room. During the check-in, the owner saw my nationality and started to bring up difficult, heavy political topics about my origin, which was completely unnecessary and made me extremely uncomfortable. Later on, he commented on my second passport that it was "invalid" because it didn't grant any citizenship. He questioned about my nationality and told me that "In Germany we don't do like this." Good for you man, it seemed like you are more knowledge more about my passport than I am? The whole process was super awkward, it made me feel that he wanted to be the smartest person in the room.

The owner being a white man who lives in a third world country and enjoys so many more privileges than the local people, all he did was being ignorant and disrespectful towards other people's cultures. You might not have bad intentions, but when you worked in hospitality industry, you're expected to be more sensitive, respectful, humble to different nationalities and cultures.

All in all, it was a shock. We have met many wonderful, friendly people in Maldives and I didn't expect we would encounter this horrible experience in Sala Thai.

P.S. They offered free transfer of airport pick-up but they didn't come with any car. We met the staff at the arrival and had to join the long queue for the taxi outside of the...

It has been a very long time since we had dined at Sala Thai and we were delighted to discover that Owner/Manager, Thomas was back in residence over seeing the operation with his lovely wife and providing a very warm welcome.

You an choose to sit in the garden dining area or if in need of AC the indoor dining room. Both offer a relaxed, calm ambiance with background music at just the right level enabling you to enjoy both the music and conversation.

The menu offers a wide range of authentic Thai dishes, at a range of spice levels to accommodate all taste buds and all are freshly prepared. We shared dim sum, followed by Pad Thai and a stir fry ( sorry can't recall the name!) They were very accommodating to provide a portion of noodles which were not listed on the menu as an alternative to rice for our friend. We also managed to squeeze in a single scoop of Movenpick ice cream! Unfortunately, the food was so good, we had eaten it all before we realised we had not taken a photo!!

We paid the equivalent of $35 each, which could be viewed as expensive for Male. However, location, service, quality of food made with authentic Thai ingredients and overall experience makes it worth every cent.
