The Black Pearl - Relaxed Dining & Coffee — Restaurant in Malé

My friend told me they had the best steak in male so I had to try it. First I have to admit that the place looks decent and the atmosphere inside is so classy and cozy at the same time. Ordered tempura with wasabi mayo as appetiser ( taste really nice , fried prawns with fried vege ) but it only contains 4 prawns pieces and the remaining was vege (8/10), fresh mushroom creamy soup ( it comes with garlic butter toasted bread which taste really amazing , 8.5/10) and as a main dish I ordered the Australian tenderloin steak ( it comes with two side dishes and your choice of sauce , I ordered mashed potatoes , grilled vege and rosemary sauce ). That was the best medium cooked steak I tasted in male so far . My wife took chicken quesadilla as main dish ( 6.5/10 , as I’ve ate much better and cheaper ones from other restaurants ). The black pearl is a modern place with culinary excellence which gives your palette a fine dining experience. The ambiance of the place and the staff are always welcoming and it feels good to visit this place as they greet you with a smile that feels you're at the right place. The food is extraordinary as the main chefs are from Sri Lanka with a wealth of experience and modern food. I would highly suggest their Ramazan spread and its food quality and fulfills your taste buds with mouthwatering food selection. This place is run by a 2nd generation food connoisseur whose entire family is in the food industry. So the standard here is very high that if you don't like the food they would ask no questions and refund your money. That's how good the food is at the black pearl. I would suggest anyone who is to have a function, co-operate event , anniversary or rather any type of function to call them and reserve your seat to avoid disappointment. Went for dinner. The restaurant is 1 floor up. Couldn’t find a lift so not wheel chair accessible). Portion sizes are large on average. Ordered Chicken Scalliponi (chicken was not tender, mash potatoes were less compared to protein, came with salad on the side); Nasi Goreng (came with chicken kebab’s and prawn crackers that tasted good but the fried rice portion was spicy than usual). Bangkok Tiger Prawns (tasted good but portion was smaller for me for that price). Lasagna portion was good, in fact larger than usual. Overall the food was palatable for us. Service was good but the attention to detail would have been nice for a restaurant of that caliber (We had to ask for water which was not recommended by the service staff. Had to ask for a spoon to eat with the rice). It took 45 minutes for food to arrive. Granted we ordered 4 different dishes but it was served one at a time.
