I got to the hotel at 3:15 pm only to find the ground floor deserted. A few minutes later, the receptionist appeared. He was friendly but a bit clueless. My room was not ready either. I finally got into my room half an hour later, which I find unacceptable as the published check-in time here is 2 pm. On departure, though, I got an extended check-out until 1:30 pm, much appreciated. The receptionist also lent me an umbrella when it was raining on one of my days in Malé.||The room was very small and extremely basic. A single bed with worn-out sheets, a small desk and chair, a closet with a safe, and that's it. The AC was efficient enough, and the universal socket by the desk was a plus. I would say the room meets two-star criteria, but nothing more. Noise insulation was non-existent so no matter if your neighbours are talking, farting or listening to music, you will hear it all. There was only a very small window with no view. The room was not cleaned during my stay.||The bathroom came with a walk-in shower with a handheld as well as an overhead showerhead. Water pressure was good and hot water ample. Amenities included two refillable bottles of shower gel and shampoo, presumably with the same stuff in both containers. No soap.||While the hotel is called The Grand View, it must have been called The Melrose not too long ago, as key cards, emergency escape plans and towels all still said Melrose. The key card, by the way, is only used to turn the electricity on. The doors themselves don't work with cards anymore, but with traditional keys.||Breakfast was included in the room rate and served on the top floor from 7 to 9:30. It was a very modest affair. There was no buffet, instead everyone got a plate with three slices of white toast, butter, jam, two sausages and an omelette without any toppings as well as a glass of fruit juice and a few orange wedges. There were no choices.||I paid 88 € / night for something that turned out to be a very modest two-star hotel. It was definitely not worth the ridiculously high price. For half the price, I might give it at least three green dots, but with such an overprice, it is hardly worth more than two.||The hotel is located right on the main street and a 6-minute walk from the airport ferry, with plenty of small supermarkets as well as restaurants close by. There is a money exchange with good rates right opposite King Salman Mosque a few...
