This restaurant's food is utterly amazing. I had fresh calamari which was a test of how good the chef is as all too often when served in a warm sauce the squid invariably overcooks, making it rubbery. However this delicate dish was served to perfection (best ever) My Sis had the NZ fillet of beef (medium rare) it melted in the mouth. A sign of a confident chef when they state on the menu 'we do not recommend cooking the steaks more than medium' (too right, if you want a steak cooked over medium then go to a Toby Inn) Desserts were magnificent, so much so I had two, I asked whether the tiramisu was fresh and not frozen. Reassured it was freshly made, I was not disappointed to find the savoiardi and mascarpone was not all watery as is the case when it's bought in and frozen. I'm a self confessed snob when it comes to quality restaurant food, and this is by far head and shoulders above any other I've experienced on the Maltese islands. Service was ok, they were very busy and were catering for a large party of in excess of 20 whom arrived as we were nearing the end of our main course. The owner was very friendly and called me by my name each time he checked in on our table, which incidentally had glorious vistas. He was a bit "direct" in his manner and to some might be misconstrued, but one has to looked at it in a cultural perspective. I would not recommend those of you seeking a romantic atmosphere, or visiting with young children any time during the festas, particularly the weeks prior to the second Sunday in June. The locals almost have a gangland style firework battle going on in most towns. Those with a nervous disposition or faint hearted would do well to not dine here doing such local customs. Overall this alfresco dining restaurant situated and overlooking the marina is a must visit, and only 5 mins drive from ferry terminal, whilst dining you can see the last ferry arriving, giving you ample time to finish of your wine from their huge range, pay the reasonable bill and be satisfied...
Read moreCountry Terrace is our Date Night favorite. Its level of service and excellent food set it apart from the many restaurants in Gozo, Malta. We like to start off with a bottle of Prosecco from Country Terrace's tremendous wine selections. One of their tasty soups, usually their traditional Aljotta fish soup, is next for our dining experience. The mushrooms au gratin and grilled asparagus with melted French Brie are essential. If we bring guests, the fresh Mussels are always a hit. Ordering our main dishes presents a problem—too many favorites of ours. If I’m in a fish mood, Joseph, your host, usually has a catch of the day special. The fresh local Calamari is one of my wife’s favorites. All of Country Terrace’s pastas are outstanding. My favorites are the Tagliatelle with freshly caught Octopus or the Panciotti Neri con Cappesante e Gamberi. Cuts of Octopus in a perfect mixture of garlic and herbs, sauvignon blanc, sweet vine tomatoes, olives, and capers in a wonderfully balanced tomato sauce. Fresh ravioli filled with scallops and prawns tossed with garlic, herbs, sauvignon blanc, cherry tomato, and calamari, this Panciotti is heaven. Country Terrace has a superb selection of tender, juicy steaks. I enjoyed the filet, the Black Angus Rib Eye, and the USDA Prime Dry-Aged Rib Eye. All exceptional. Malta’s National dish, braised rabbit “Stuffat,” is available along with quail and duck. Gozitan-raised lamb is a local favorite, as are their chicken dishes. If I’m having trouble making up my mind about this tremendous menu, the pan-seared Iberico pork filet is my go-to dinner. It is so rich in flavor and never dry. Country Terrace has a large children's menu to satisfy the pickiest of eaters in your family. Be sure to order the breaded deep-fried mac and cheese. We wish it were on the big kid's menu. Finish with a lemon cello to complete your dining experience. Country Terrace is open from 12 to 2:30, 6 to 10, seven days a week. Reservations are...

The USDA ribeyes were 41 euros each - for that price, you would expect great attention to detail with regards to presentation and an even better taste. We ordered them as ‘Medium’, however they were served to us rare at best; The mushroom sauce was the cheap store-bought type with added mushrooms. Way too salty and watery In the chips bowl, there were pieces of burnt potatoes (again, a little attention to detail would have prevented this) The butter packets given to us were filthy, as if someone before us put it in their plate, got covered in sauce, and it was then picked up by the waiter and given to us. The cutlery was very old, dented and has some green pieces on it (100% put in the dishwasher and not polished afterwards) Menus were filthy and stained with drinks which could have easily been wiped Specials and wine menu were printed on one singular piece of A4 paper, twisted and worn out as it was not even laminated - Not too difficult to put forward something half decent to the customers in my opinion.
This place needs a very big reshuffle, from the cutlery to the menus to THE FOOD. A little attention to detail and care would make a whole lot of difference. The prices are way too high for the price quality of everything provided. I think they should consider fixing their faults before even attempting to ask 41e for their ribeye.
P.S. I used their dealtoday 50% off deal for this meal, however, they did not know I had the discount until I asked for the bill; therefore, the lack of quality was not due to the discount or anything, this was simply their best work! Moreover, i talked to the staff about this matter, and even though they did look into the matter, it seems that they took my plate, I paid and nothing else happened, however, I really hope they will take this review very seriously and take time to right...
